PFL claim filed 4/9, no payments yet. Normal wait time? Tips to speed it up?
Hey everyone, I filed for Paid Family Leave on April 9th and I'm wondering if anyone else is in the same boat? It's been a few weeks now and I haven't received any payments yet. Starting to get a bit worried... Anyone know how long it usually takes? Or if there's anything I can do to speed up the process? Thanks in advance for any help!

I filed mine back in March and it took about 3 weeks to get my first payment. Hang in there! The system can be slow sometimes.

ā¢Thanks for the info! That's reassuring to hear. Did you have to do anything special to get it processed?

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes that can help move things along.

ā¢I've been trying, but it's impossible to get through! Always busy or on hold forever š«

ā¢Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. Used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. Costs $20 but totally worth it for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Here's what I know about Paid Family Leave processing times and what you can do to potentially speed things up: ⢠Typical processing time is 2-3 weeks, but can take up to 4-6 weeks during busy periods ⢠Make sure ALL your documentation is submitted and correct (medical certification, etc.) ⢠Double-check your online account to see if they've requested any additional info ⢠If it's been over 3 weeks, try calling them (though it can be tough to get through) ⢠Consider using the online message center to inquire about your claim status ⢠Sometimes, reaching out to your local state representative's office can help Remember, every case is different, so timelines can vary. But if it's been more than a month, definitely try to contact them somehow. Good luck!

ā¢Great advice! I'd add that keeping a log of all your attempts to contact them can be useful if you need to escalate the issue later.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes the notifications end up there. Also, make sure your address is up to date in the system.

I heard they recently updated their system and it's causing delays. Might be why yours is taking a bit longer. Hang in there!

ā¢For real tho, why do these 'updates' always make things worse? š¤

Anyone else think its crazy we gotta jump through so many hoops just to get what we're entitled to? The whole systems needs an overhaul tbh

ā¢Totally agree. It's a full-time job just trying to navigate the bureaucracy š«
