PFL Application Pending - How Long for Approval? No Additional Docs Needed

Hey everyone, I just submitted my application for paid family leave and it's currently pending review/approval. Anyone know how long this typically takes? I'm not sure what to expect and I'm a bit anxious about the timeline. No additional documents were needed, so I'm hoping that's a good sign. Any experiences or insights would be really appreciated!

Congrats on getting your application in! In my experience, it usually takes about 2-3 weeks for them to process and approve PFL applications. But I've heard it can vary depending on how busy they are. Hang in there!

Thanks for the info! 2-3 weeks isn't too bad. Fingers crossed it doesn't take longer than that. šŸ¤ž

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone about this! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of hold time.

20 bucks? Thats highway robbery! The goverment should make it easier to reach them without paying extra 😤

I get it, but for me, it was worth it to not waste a whole day on hold. Time is money, ya know?

pro tip: if you haven't already, set up an online account on the PFL website. You can check your claim status there and sometimes it updates faster than waiting for snail mail.

Here's a comprehensive guide to the PFL approval process based on my research and personal experience: • Initial Processing: 1-2 weeks for basic review • Verification: 1-3 weeks (varies if they need to contact your employer) • Final Decision: Usually within 5-14 days after verification Factors that can speed things up: - Submitting all required docs upfront - Quick response from your employer - Applying during less busy periods (avoid end/start of year if possible) Tips: 1. Double-check all info before submitting 2. Keep copies of everything 3. Use online account for status updates 4. If it's urgent, consider calling (use the Claimyr tool others mentioned if hold times are crazy) Remember, these are general timelines. Individual cases may vary. Good luck!

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you gotta be the squeaky wheel to get the grease

Tried calling like 50 times. Always busy or on hold forever. I give up 😫

Quick question - did you apply online or by mail? I've heard online applications tend to be processed faster.

I applied online. Hoping that helps speed things up a bit!

Just a heads up, make sure you have some savings to fall back on. Even after approval, it can take a couple weeks for the first payment to come through. Learned that the hard way šŸ˜…

Thanks for sharing your experience! I'm actually dealing with a similar situation - submitted my PFL application about 10 days ago and it's been radio silence since then. The waiting game is brutal when you're depending on that income. I did apply online like you did, so hopefully that helps with processing time. One thing I found helpful was signing up for text alerts through the EDD portal - at least you get notified when there's any status change instead of obsessively checking the website every few hours (guilty as charged šŸ˜…). Hang in there, hopefully we both hear back soon!
