How to take last few weeks of EDD baby bonding leave? Need advice ASAP!
Hey everyone, I'm trying to take the last couple weeks of my baby bonding leave. Has anyone gone through this process recently? I'm not sure where to start or what I need to do. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Congrats on the new baby! 🎉 I just went through this process a few months ago. First thing you need to do is file a claim with EDD. Make sure you have all your paperwork ready - birth certificate, last day of work info, etc. It can take a while to process, so start ASAP!

•Thanks for the info! Do you remember how long it took for your claim to be processed?

•It took about 3 weeks for me, but I've heard it can vary. Some ppl get it faster, others wait longer. Just keep checking your account for updates.

make sure you file within 41 days of when you want your claim to start! thats super important. if you miss that window you might lose out on some benefits

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone at EDD! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Ugh, good luck dealing with EDD. Their system is such a mess rn. I've been trying to sort out an issue with my claim for weeks and can't get anyone on the phone 😤

Here's a detailed breakdown of what you need to do for baby bonding leave: 1. File your claim online through SDI Online. You'll need your personal info, employment details, and last day worked. 2. Provide the child's birth certificate or other proof of birth. 3. If you're currently on pregnancy disability leave, you can transition to baby bonding by submitting a claim for Paid Family Leave. 4. You can take up to 8 weeks of baby bonding leave within the first year of your child's birth. 5. Benefits are about 60-70% of your wages, up to a maximum weekly benefit amount. 6. Keep an eye on your EDD account for updates and any requests for additional information. 7. If you run into issues, keep trying to contact EDD. It can be frustrating, but persistence usually pays off. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

•Great info! Just want to add that some employers require you to use all your vacation/PTO before starting baby bonding leave. Check with HR!

anyone else feel like the whole system is designed to make us give up? 🤡 like, why make it so complicated?

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they're playing 4D chess and we're stuck with checkers

•Tin foil hat time: maybe they hope people will just give up so they don't have to pay out as much 🤔

Pro tip: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online interaction. You never know when you'll need to prove something later.

Has anyone had luck with the EDD's new chatbot? I've been trying to use it but it seems pretty useless tbh

•LOL that thing is about as helpful as a chocolate teapot 😂

•It's okay for super basic stuff, but anything complicated and it just tells you to call... which gets you nowhere 🙃

Dont forget to factor in taxes! EDD doesn't withhold anything, so you might wanna set some money aside so you're not caught off guard come tax season.

•Oh man, I didn't even think about taxes. Thanks for the heads up!
