Reestablishing bonding claim through family leave - How long for EDD response?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to reestablish bonding through family leave. I submitted a plan a few days ago but haven't heard anything back yet. Has anyone else gone through this process recently? How long did it take for you to get a response? I'm getting a bit anxious waiting and could use some advice or experiences from others who've been there.

I went through this last year. It took about 2 weeks for them to get back to me. Hang in there! The waiting game is the worst part.

•Thanks for sharing! Two weeks feels like forever when you're waiting. Did you have to do any follow-up or did they just contact you?

•They actually contacted me first. But if you don't hear anything after 2 weeks, def give them a call. Better safe than sorry!

•2 weeks?! 😱 I've been waiting for over a month now. This is ridiculous!

Make sure you double-check all your paperwork. I had to resubmit mine because I missed a signature on one of the forms. 🤦♂️ Delayed the whole process by like 3 weeks.

Ugh, the family leave system is so broken. I swear they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people from using it. Good luck, OP!

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they forget we're dealing with family stuff on top of all this bureaucracy.

Hey, I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. •Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•20 bucks? Idk man, seems kinda steep just to talk to someone...

•I get the skepticism, but honestly, it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

Here's what I've learned from my experience with reestablishing bonding through family leave: 1. Be patient: The process can take anywhere from 2-4 weeks. 2. Keep all your documentation: Make copies of everything you submit. 3. Follow up: If you don't hear back after 2 weeks, call them. 4. Know your rights: Familiarize yourself with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). 5. Be persistent: Sometimes you need to be the squeaky wheel to get results. 6. Seek support: Join online communities or support groups for people in similar situations. 7. Consider getting legal advice if you face significant delays or denials. Remember, you're entitled to this benefit. Don't let the bureaucracy discourage you. Stay strong and advocate for yourself!

Has anyone had luck getting approved for bonding leave if you've already been on maternity leave? My situation is complicated and I'm not sure if I qualify.

•I think it depends on your state laws and company policies. Might be worth consulting with an employment lawyer.

Pro tip: If you can, try to submit your paperwork in person. I did this and got a receipt. Gave me peace of mind knowing they couldn't 'lose' my application.

Anyone else feel like they need a PhD in bureaucracy to navigate this system? 🤔 I swear, filling out these forms is harder than my actual job lol

•LOL for real tho. I'm convinced they make it confusing on purpose 🤡

•Mood. I've spent more time googling how to fill out these forms than I have bonding with my kid 😭

I just went through this process about 3 months ago! It took me exactly 12 days to hear back from EDD after I submitted my bonding claim paperwork. The key thing that helped me was calling their automated line every few days to check the status - you can do this without waiting on hold. Also, make sure you have your SDI number handy when you call. The waiting is definitely nerve-wracking, but try to stay positive! In my case, everything went smoothly once they processed it. Hope this helps ease your anxiety a bit! 🤞

•This is super helpful, thank you! 12 days sounds reasonable. I didn't know about the automated line to check status - that's a great tip! Do you remember what number you called for that? And did you have to provide any additional documentation after they initially reviewed your claim?

•@Dmitry Smirnov Thank you so much for sharing your experience! 12 days gives me hope - I m'on day 5 now so hopefully I ll'hear something soon. The automated status check sounds like a lifesaver! I ve'been driving myself crazy wondering what s'happening with my application. Did you end up needing to provide any additional documents or was everything approved based on your initial submission?

I'm in a similar boat right now! Just submitted my bonding claim paperwork last week and the waiting is killing me. Reading through everyone's experiences here is both reassuring and nerve-wracking at the same time 😅 It sounds like 2-4 weeks is pretty typical, but that range is so wide! I keep checking my email obsessively hoping for an update. Has anyone tried reaching out before the 2-week mark, or is it better to just wait it out? Also wondering if there's a specific day of the week they typically send out responses - probably overthinking this but when you're anxious, every little detail matters!

•I totally feel you on the obsessive email checking! 😅 I'm also waiting (day 8 now) and doing the exact same thing. From what I've read here, it seems like most people get responses within that 2-4 week window, but the uncertainty is the worst part. I've been wondering about the timing too - like do they process these on certain days? Probably overthinking it like you said, but when you're in limbo it's hard not to! Hang in there, we got this! 💪
