How to reestablish EDD leave? Process and timeframe help needed
Hey everyone, I'm trying to reestablish my leave but I'm not sure about the process. Has anyone gone through this recently? How long did it take? Any tips or advice would be really appreciated!

I just went through this last month. It's a pain in the butt, but here's what I did: 1. Call the EDD office first thing in the morning (like 8:01 AM) 2. Have all your paperwork ready - original claim info, doctors notes, etc. 3. Be prepared to wait on hold for a while 4. When you get someone, explain your situation clearly and ask about next steps 5. Follow up with any additional docs they request ASAP It took about 2 weeks for mine to get reestablished after I talked to someone. Good luck!

•This is really helpful, thanks for sharing! Did you have any issues with the online system or was it all done over the phone?

•I tried online first but kept getting errors. Phone was def the way to go for me. The website is a joke tbh 🤡

•2 weeks?! You're lucky. I've been waiting for over a month now. 😭

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to get through to someone for weeks. It's like they don't want us to actually use the benefits we're entitled to. 🙄

Has anyone tried faxing in the paperwork? I heard that might be faster than mailing or trying to do it online.

•Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 🤣 But for real, might be worth a shot at this point.

•I actually tried faxing and it worked pretty well! Got a response within a few days.

Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

Anyone else notice that the EDD seems to be extra slow lately? I wonder if they're short-staffed or something.

•Probably using Internet Explorer to process our claims 💀

Hey OP, when did you initially file your claim? That might affect the reestablishment process.

•I filed about 6 months ago. Does that make a difference?

•Yeah, it might. If it's been less than a year, the process should be a bit easier. Make sure to mention that when you call!

I'm going through the same thing right now! From what I've gathered reading through these comments, it sounds like calling early in the morning is key. @Fatima Al-Mansour your step-by-step breakdown is super helpful - I'm definitely going to try the 8:01 AM call strategy. It's frustrating that the online system seems so unreliable, but at least there are workarounds. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!

•@Yuki Yamamoto Yes, the 8:01 AM thing seems to be the magic trick! I m'in the same boat as you and @Giovanni Rossi - just starting this whole reestablishment process. It s really'helpful to see what s worked'for others. I m planning'to try calling tomorrow morning with all my paperwork ready. Fingers crossed we both get through quickly! 🤞
