EDD Baby Bonding Leave: No updates or payment after 2 weeks. What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my baby bonding leave. I took a month off when my baby was born, and now I'm trying to take the rest of my leave. It's been two weeks, but I haven't received any updates or confirmation about when I'll get paid. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm getting worried because I need that income to support my family. Any advice on what I should do or who I should contact?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through something similar last year. The system is so slow and frustrating. Have you tried calling the EDD office? It took me forever to get through, but once I did, they were able to help me out.

•I've been trying to call, but I can never get through. It's always busy or I'm on hold forever. How long did it take you to finally reach someone?

•Honestly, it took me like 3 days of constant calling. I'd start dialing as soon as they opened and just kept at it. It's a total pain, but persistence pays off eventually. Hang in there!

•Pro tip: try calling right at 8:01 AM. That's when I finally got through after days of trying. Good luck! 🍀

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this? Seems kinda sketchy to pay for something like that.

•I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. After weeks of trying to get through, I was desperate. The $20 was worth it to finally talk to someone and get my issue resolved.

•Can you give more details about how it works? Do they guarantee you'll get through?

•Sure! You basically put in the number you want them to call, and they use some kind of automated system to navigate the phone tree and wait on hold. When a real person picks up, it forwards the call to your phone. They don't guarantee it'll work every time, but it did for me on the first try.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD, including dates and times. 2. Check your online account regularly for any updates or messages. 3. If you haven't already, file a claim for your additional weeks of leave. Sometimes they don't automatically process the extension. 4. Reach out to your employer's HR department. They might be able to help or provide guidance. 5. Consider contacting your local state representative's office. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 6. Be persistent with calling. Use the trick of calling right at opening time or just before closing. 7. If all else fails, you might want to consider filing a formal complaint. Remember, the system is overwhelmed, but you have a right to your benefits. Don't give up!

•This is great advice! I'd add one more thing: join some Facebook groups for EDD claimants. They often have up-to-date info and tips.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes EDD emails end up there. Also, make sure your contact info is up to date in the system.

•Good idea, I'll double-check that. Thanks!

I'm in the exact same boat rn. Been waiting for 3 weeks with no update. This system is so broken, it's ridiculous. How are we supposed to support our families like this? 😤

•Preach! 🙌 The whole thing needs a complete overhaul. It's not fair to new parents.

•Have either of you tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes tweeting at them or messaging on Facebook can get a response.

Congrats on the new baby! 🎉👶 Sorry youre dealing with this stress tho. One thing that helped me was setting up email alerts for my claim. At least then you know if there's any movement.
