How to calculate PFL benefit for 8-week baby bonding leave? Need help with docs & wage calculation
Hey everyone, I'm trying to apply for paid family leave for baby bonding. I've got 8 weeks available but I'm not sure how to calculate the benefit amount or what documents I need. Anyone been through this process recently? Any tips on figuring out the weekly wage calculations or what paperwork I should have ready?

Congrats on the new addition! šš¶ I went through this last year. For the benefit calculation, you'll need your average weekly wage. Gather your pay stubs from the last 18 months. As for documents, you'll definitely need: ⢠Proof of birth (birth certificate or hospital records) ⢠Employment verification (recent pay stub or employment letter) ⢠Your ID ⢠The claim form (usually available online) Make sure to file within 41 days of the first day you want benefits to start. Good luck!

ā¢Thank you so much! This is super helpful. Do you remember how long it took for your application to be processed?

ā¢No problem! For me, it took about 2 weeks to get approved. But I've heard it can vary. Just make sure all your docs are in order to avoid delays.

ā¢I found a way! There's this site called claimyr.com that has a calling tool. It dials the menu, waits on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20 but totally worth it imo. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

ā¢$20 just to talk to someone? Sounds like a scam tbh š¤

ā¢Nah, it's legit. I was skeptical too but it actually worked. Saved me hours of frustration.

ā¢Can confirm, used it last week. Expensive but beats wasting an entire day on hold.

Pro tip: If you can, apply online. It's usually faster than mailing in forms. Just make sure you have all your docs scanned and ready to upload.

Anyone else feel like the whole system is designed to be as confusing as possible? 𤔠I swear they make it hard on purpose so people give up.

ā¢Guys, cmon. It's not a conspiracy. The system's just old and underfunded. Still sucks tho

Quick question - does anyone know if you can split up the 8 weeks? Like take 4 weeks now and 4 weeks later?

ā¢Yep, you can! As long as you use all 8 weeks within the first year of birth/adoption/foster placement.
