EDD claim vanished after getting mail to call in - now can't reach anyone!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my unemployment claim. I filed back in December and got a letter in February telling me to call in, but they didn't give me any other info. Now when I check my EDD page, my claim is completely gone! Has anyone else dealt with this? I've been trying to reach them on the phone but no luck so far. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, that sucks! I had something similar happen to me last year. Have you tried calling right when they open? I found that to be the best time to get through.

•Thanks for the tip! I've tried that a couple times but still no luck. It's so frustrating 😫

•Early morning calls are hit or miss tbh. I've had better luck calling around 3pm on Wednesdays for some reason 🤷♂️

The EDD system is such a joke. I swear they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits. Hang in there, OP!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•How long did you have to wait once they started calling?

•It took about 45 minutes for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way better than trying to call yourself all day!

Here's what I would do: 1. Keep calling EDD every day. Be persistent. 2. Contact your local state representative's office. They can sometimes intervene on your behalf. 3. Check if there are any EDD workshops or in-person events in your area where you can speak to someone directly. 4. Document everything. Keep copies of all letters and screenshots of your online account. 5. If all else fails, consider filing a complaint with the state labor board. Remember, you're entitled to these benefits. Don't give up!

•Wow, thank you so much for this detailed advice! I'll definitely try contacting my state rep, I hadn't thought of that.

•This is solid advice. I'd add that joining local unemployment support groups on Facebook can be helpful too. Sometimes they have insider tips or can point you to resources.

have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds old school but I actually got a response that way lol

I'm in the exact same boat. Filed in November, got a letter in January, and now my claim is MIA. This system is so broken its not even funny anymore.

•It's ridiculous how common this seems to be. Hope you get it sorted out soon!

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling the employer line and then asking to be transferred. Worked for me!

Anyone else notice how the EDD website always seems to be "undergoing maintenance" when you need it most? 🙄

•For real tho! It's like they time it perfectly to be down whenever I log in 😤

Hate to say it, but sometimes you just gotta keep calling. I literally called 137 times in one day before I got through. It's exhausting but eventually it'll work.

•137 times?! Bruh, that's insane. The system is so broken 🤡

This is so frustrating but unfortunately pretty common with EDD right now. A few things that might help: try calling the 2511 number instead of the main line - sometimes it has shorter wait times. Also, if you have any documentation from when you first filed (confirmation numbers, emails, etc.), keep those handy when you do get through. The rep will need them to locate your "missing" claim. Sometimes claims get flagged for review and temporarily disappear from your online portal, but they're still in the system. Don't panic - your claim isn't actually gone, it's just not visible to you right now. Keep us updated on how it goes!
