Urgent: Need EDD status update, can't get through. Any tips?
Hey everyone, I'm in desperate need of a status update on my claim. I've been trying to get through to EDD for days now. Has anyone had any luck recently? Any tips on the best time to call or how to get a hold of someone? I'm starting to get really worried about my financial situation.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been in the same boat for weeks now. It's like trying to win the lottery just to get someone on the phone. I've tried calling at different times, but no luck so far. Have you tried sending them an email? Sometimes that works better than calling.

β’Thanks for the suggestion. I've sent a couple emails but haven't heard back yet. How long did it take for them to respond to you?

β’It took about a week for me to get a response, but at least I got one. Hang in there!

β’A week? You're lucky! I've been waiting for almost a month now. This system is so broken π€

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

β’Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

β’I'm skeptical. Why should we have to pay to get basic customer service?

β’I get the skepticism, but after spending hours trying to get through, $20 was worth it for me. It's not ideal, but it worked when nothing else did.

β’Can confirm, I used it too. Saved me days of frustration.

Pro tip: Try calling right when they open at 8 AM. I got through after only a 30-minute wait last week. Good luck!

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they update the status there without sending a notification. It's worth a shot if you haven't looked recently.

β’Thanks for the reminder. I just checked and unfortunately there's no update. Guess I'll have to keep trying to call π

Here's what I've learned after dealing with EDD for months: 1. Persistence is key. Keep calling, even if it feels hopeless. 2. Use the online portal to submit any documents they might need. 3. If you can, reach out to your local assembly member's office. They sometimes have direct lines to EDD. 4. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact them (calls, emails, etc.). This can be helpful if you need to escalate your case. 5. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. 6. Join EDD-focused Facebook groups. They often have up-to-date info and tips. 7. If all else fails, consider using a paid service like the one mentioned earlier. It's not ideal, but it can save you time and stress. Hang in there, OP. The system is frustrating, but don't give up!

β’The assembly member tip is legit. They helped me resolve my issue in just a few days.

Anyone else feel like we're living in a kafka novel trying to deal with edd? π€ its like they purposely make it impossible to get help

β’LOL for real tho. Sometimes I wonder if there's actually anyone working there or if it's just a bunch of robots playing phone tag with us π€

β’Kafka? More like a horror story. EDD should stand for 'Extremely Difficult Department' π

Hey OP, what exactly do you need the status update for? Is it about a specific payment or your overall claim? Might be able to give more specific advice if we know the details.

β’It's about a pending payment from 3 weeks ago. My claim is active, but this payment is just stuck and I can't figure out why.

β’Ah, gotcha. Yeah, pending payments are a common issue. Definitely try calling, and make sure you've certified correctly for those weeks. Sometimes a small mistake can hold things up.

I'm telling you, the real solution is to camp outside their office. Bring a tent, some snacks, and don't leave until they help you. Who's with me? βΊοΈποΈ

β’Lmao imagine the look on their faces when they show up to work and see a bunch of us camped out front π€£

Guys, I just got through after trying for weeks! Here's what worked for me: 1. Call at 2:55 PM 2. Press 1 for English 3. Then 1 for claim questions 4. Then 2 for existing claims 5. Then 4 for general questions I was on hold for about an hour, but I finally spoke to someone. Hope this helps!

β’Wait, 2:55 PM? Doesn't the office close at 3? How does that work?

β’They stop taking new calls at 3, but if you're already in the queue they'll still help you. That's why calling right before closing sometimes works better!
