EDD call dropped mid-conversation - now what? Need help ASAP!
Hey everyone, I'm having a really frustrating issue with my unemployment claim. I was on the phone with EDD and the call suddenly dropped. Now I'm back at square one and have to start all over again. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips on how to get through to them quickly? I'm worried about missing important deadlines.

Ugh, that sucks! I've had calls drop on me too. It's like they're purposely trying to make this as difficult as possible. Have you tried calling right when they open? I've had some luck with that.

I heard they're busiest first thing in the morning. Maybe try mid-afternoon? š¤

I feel your pain, OP. The EDD system is a total mess rn. I've been trying to get through for weeks. It's like playing the lottery, except the prize is just talking to a human being š

Have you tried using the online portal? Sometimes you can get more done there without having to deal with the phone system.

I've tried, but my issue requires talking to a rep unfortunately. Thanks for the suggestion tho!

I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but I can confirm it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

Why should we have to pay to access a government service? This is ridiculous.

I get it, it sucks to pay. But for me, the time saved was worth it. To each their own tho!

Pro tip: keep a log of all your calls, including date, time, and any info you received. It might come in handy if you need to escalate your case later. Also, here's what I've learned from my own EDD nightmare: ā¢ Be persistent. It sucks, but sometimes you just have to keep calling. ā¢ Have all your info ready before you call. ID number, exact dates, etc. ā¢ If you get a helpful rep, ask for their direct extension if possible. ā¢ Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. ā¢ Consider reaching out to your local assembly member's office. They can sometimes help push things through. Hang in there, OP. I know it's tough, but you'll get through this!

Wow, thanks for all the detailed advice! I'll definitely start keeping a log. Great idea about contacting my assembly member too, I hadn't thought of that.

Huh, that's an interesting theory. I might try my partner's phone next time. Can't hurt!
