EDD Paid Family Leave claim stuck in limbo for 6+ weeks - no updates, can't reach anyone. Help!
Has anyone else been waiting forever for their EDD paid family leave claim to be processed? I filed almost 6 weeks ago and there's still no update on the website. I can't get through to a real person on the phone either. The website says it should only take 2-3 weeks max, but it's been over a month with no payment. This is so frustrating! How are we supposed to survive without income for this long?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I'm in the exact same boat. Filed 7 weeks ago and still nothing. It's like they don't even care that people have bills to pay. 😤

•7 weeks?! That's insane. Have you tried reaching out to your local assemblymember? I've heard they can sometimes help speed things up.

•No, I haven't tried that yet. Didn't even know it was an option tbh. Thanks for the tip, I'll give it a shot!

•Assemblymember route is hit or miss. Tried it myself and got ghosted for weeks 🤷♂️

I actually found a way to get through to someone on the phone! There's this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that dials the EDD for you, waits on hold, and then connects you when a real person picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit or some kind of scam?

•Nah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate and gave it a shot. Saved me hours of hold time.

•20 bucks tho? That's kinda steep just to talk to someone who should be available for free 🙄

•I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting so much time trying to get through on my own.

The EDD system is such a joke. They're probably using computers from the stone age to process claims. 🦕💻 No wonder it takes forever!

Have you tried checking your spam folder? Sometimes EDD emails end up there. Also, make sure you've completed all the forms correctly. One tiny mistake can delay everything.

•Yeah, I've triple-checked everything. No emails in spam, all forms filled out correctly. It's just radio silence from them. 😞

OK, listen up folks. I've been through this rodeo before and here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD. 2. Call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and be ready to dial. 3. If you can't get through, try the online contact form. Be specific about your issue. 4. Reach out to your state representative. They can sometimes expedite things. 5. Check your UI Online account daily for any updates or requests for additional info. 6. If all else fails, consider filing a complaint with the state labor board. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up!

•Filing a complaint with the labor board? Isn't that a bit extreme?

•It's a last resort, but sometimes you gotta play hardball to get results. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, ya know?

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of uploading online? I've heard rumors that it can be faster.

•Faxing? What year is it, 1995? 📠😂

•Hey, don't knock it till you've tried it! Sometimes old school methods work best with these outdated systems.

I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. The stress of waiting for benefits while bills pile up is awful. Hang in there, and don't be afraid to reach out for help if you need it. There are food banks and other resources that might be able to help in the meantime.

•Thank you for the kind words. It really helps to know I'm not alone in this. I'll look into some local resources.

Anyone else notice that the EDD website is always "undergoing maintenance" when you actually need to use it? 🙄

•OMG YES! It's like they know exactly when I'm gonna log in and decide to do updates 😤

Pro tip: If you're gonna call EDD, make sure your phone is fully charged and you've got snacks nearby. You're in for a loooong wait.
