SDI only paid 30 days instead of 6 weeks after delivery - What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my SDI payments after having a baby. I was supposed to get 6 weeks of payments, but I only received 30 days worth. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure if I messed up my claim or if there's an issue on their end. Any advice on what I should do or say when I call them?

Ugh, classic SDI nonsense. I had a similar issue last year. Make sure you double-check all your paperwork and have your claim number ready when you call. Sometimes they 'accidentally' cut payments short. 🙄

For real? That's so messed up. How long did it take you to get it sorted out?

It took about 3 weeks of back-and-forth calls. Stay persistent! Don't let them brush you off.

This is why I'm scared to even apply for SDI. The system seems so broken 😩

Congrats on the baby! 🎉 As for SDI, here's what you need to know: • You're entitled to up to 8 weeks for normal delivery, 10 weeks for c-section • Make sure your doctor filled out the medical certification correctly • Check if your employer reported your wages accurately • Call SDI and ask for a detailed explanation of your benefit calculation • If there's an error, request a recalculation • Keep all documentation and communication records Don't be afraid to escalate if needed. Sometimes you gotta be a squeaky wheel to get the grease. Good luck!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

SDI is such a joke these days. My cousin had to fight for weeks to get her full benefits. The whole system needs an overhaul tbh

Quick question - did you file for Paid Family Leave (PFL) after your SDI claim? Sometimes people confuse the two and it can affect your benefit period.

Oh, I didn't even think about that! I'll double-check. Thanks for bringing it up!

Hey OP, when you do get through to someone, make sure to get their name and employee ID. It helps if you need to follow up or if theres any discrepancy later. Also, dont be afraid to ask for a supervisor if youre not getting anywhere with the first person you talk to. Stay strong! 💪
