SDI payment delayed by a month due to postpartum extension - finally got through to a rep!
I haven't received my SDI payment in almost a month. My benefits were extended due to postpartum complications, but I can't find any forms that need attention. Has anyone else experienced this? I finally got through to a representative and they found some forms on their end that needed to be filled out. Now I can expect my money soon. What a relief! Has anyone else had similar issues with delayed payments?

Ugh, I'm in the same boat! It's been 6 weeks since my last payment and I'm going crazy. How did you manage to get ahold of someone? I've been calling non-stop and always get the 'try again later' message. 😤

•I used this site called claimyr.com. They have a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20 but it was worth it for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•$20 just to talk to someone? That sounds like a scam. Are you sure its legit?

•I was skeptical too, but it worked for me. I figured $20 was worth it to finally get my benefits sorted out. They don't ask for any personal info, just your phone number to forward the call.

•I've heard about services like this. Seems kinda messed up that we have to pay extra just to access benefits we're entitled to. But I guess if it works... 🤷♂️

Congrats on finally getting through! The SDI system is such a mess rn. I've been waiting 2 months for my claim to be processed. Did they give you any tips on how to avoid delays in the future?

This is why I always tell ppl to keep copies of EVERYTHING. The EDD loses paperwork all the time. I had a similar issue last year and it turned out they had 'misplaced' my medical certification. Keep calling and don't give up!

•💯 this! I started scanning all my docs and uploading them to a cloud drive. Makes it so much easier to resend stuff when they inevitably lose it lol

Has anyone tried contacting their state representative about these issues? I've heard sometimes they can help push claims through faster.

•I did this last month! My assemblymember's office was super helpful. They have a dedicated EDD liaison who can escalate cases. Def worth a shot if ur stuck.

•Wait, really? How do you even find out who your rep is? 🤔

•Just google '[your city] state assembly member'. Most have contact forms on their websites specifically for EDD issues. Good luck!

Here's a comprehensive guide to dealing with SDI payment delays: 1. Document everything: Keep a log of all calls, letters, and form submissions. 2. Double-check your claim status online: Sometimes issues are listed there that aren't communicated elsewhere. 3. Ensure all required forms are submitted: This includes your claim form (DE 2501) and medical certification (DE 2501F). 4. For postpartum extensions, make sure your healthcare provider has submitted updated medical info. 5. If payments stop unexpectedly, check if you need to complete a continued claim certification (DE 2500A). 6. Use the online portal to send secure messages - sometimes you'll get a faster response. 7. If all else fails, try contacting your state representative or the EDD ombudsman's office. Remember, persistence is key. Don't be afraid to follow up regularly. The squeaky wheel gets the grease!

•Thanks for putting this together! Quick question - how often should we be following up? I don't wanna be annoying but I also need my money lol

•I'd say follow up once a week if you haven't heard anything. If they give you a specific timeframe, wait until that passes before checking in again. But don't be afraid to be 'annoying' - it's your money!

•Preach! 🙌 It's like they make it complicated on purpose to discourage people from claiming benefits

•Sadly, I think a lot of government systems are like this. It's not just SDI. Try dealing with the DMV or IRS sometime... 😅

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you can catch them when the queue is shorter.

Does anyone know if theres a way to check the status of specific forms online? Or do we just have to wait for them to contact us?

•Unfortunately, the online system is pretty limited. You can see your overall claim status, but not individual form statuses. It's super frustrating!

I feel your pain, OP. Went through something similar last year. Hang in there! Once they sort it out, they should backpay you for the missed weeks. Make sure to double-check the amounts when you finally get paid.
