SDI claim approved but no card - need help routing to bank + applying for PFL

Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle here. My disability claim was approved, but I haven't received my card yet. I really need to talk to someone about getting it routed to my bank account. On top of that, I want to apply for baby bonding insurance. Anyone else dealt with this? Any tips on how to actually get through to a real person at EDD?

Ugh, the EDD is such a nightmare to deal with! I've been trying to get through for weeks. Have you tried calling first thing in the morning? That sometimes works for me.

First thing in the morning? LOL good luck with that. I've tried at 8am sharp and still no dice. 🤡

Same boat here. I've tried calling at all hours and it's always busy. This system is so broken 😤

Yeah, I've tried calling early too. No luck so far. It's so frustrating!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks? Thats kinda steep for something that should be free...

I get it, but for me it was worth it to finally talk to someone. Your call tho!

Okay, let me break this down for you: 1. Disability Card: If your claim was approved, you should receive the card within 7-10 business days. If it's been longer, definitely call EDD. 2. Routing to Bank: You can set up direct deposit online through your EDD account. Log in and look for the 'Payment Methods' section. 3. Baby Bonding: This is part of Paid Family Leave (PFL). You need to file a separate claim for this. It's usually easier to do online. 4. Contacting EDD: Try these numbers: - Disability: 1-800-480-3287 - Paid Family Leave: 1-877-238-4373 Call early, be persistent, and have all your info ready. Good luck!

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This is super helpful. I'll try setting up direct deposit online right away.

I feel your pain, OP. The EDD system is a total dumpster fire right now. Between COVID backlog and all the fraud cases, it's a mess. Hang in there!

fr fr 💯 EDD needs to get its act together

Quick question - how long ago was your claim approved? Sometimes it takes a few weeks for everything to process.

0 coins

It's been about 3 weeks now. Is that normal?

0 coins

3 weeks is pushing it. Def time to give em a call and see whats up.

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out to your local state representative's office. They often have direct lines to EDD and can help push things along.

This! 👆 My assemblyman's office was a game changer when I was stuck in EDD limbo.

anyone else think its wild that in 2023 we still gotta jump through all these hoops just to get our benefits? smh

Preach! 🙌 The whole system needs an overhaul

Hey Zainab! I went through something similar last year. For the direct deposit setup, make sure you have your routing and account numbers ready - sometimes the online system glitches out if you don't enter them perfectly the first time. Also, when you apply for PFL/baby bonding, you'll need your doctor to fill out the medical certification form (DE 2501). Start that process early because doctors can take forever to get paperwork back to you! Congrats on the upcoming baby! 🍼
