Filed PFL claim a month ago, no updates. Normal wait time for CA EDD?
Hey everyone, I filed a parental leave claim about a month ago and haven't heard anything back yet. Is this normal? Anyone else in the same boat? I'm starting to get worried about when I'll see any payments.

Ugh, welcome to the club. I filed mine 2 months ago and still crickets. The waiting game is brutal.

2 months?! That's insane. Have you tried calling them?

Lol good luck with that. I've spent hours on hold and never got through. It's like they don't want us to get our money š

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins of hold time that way.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Saved me hours of frustration.

Wait, we have to PAY to talk to someone about our benefits? That's messed up.

I get it, but for me it was worth the $20 to finally get answers. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research: ā¢ Processing times can vary wildly, from 2-8 weeks typically ā¢ Make sure all your docs are in order (medical certification, etc.) ā¢ If you haven't heard anything after 4 weeks, definitely try to contact them ā¢ Check your online account regularly for updates ā¢ Sometimes they need additional info but don't tell you š ā¢ If you can get through on the phone, be super nice to the rep (they're overworked) Hang in there, OP! The system is a mess but you'll get your benefits eventually.

Thank you so much for this detailed response! Really helpful. I'll double-check all my docs and give them a call if I don't hear anything by next week.

I'm in the exact same situation! Filed on the 5th of last month. This waiting is killing me. Got bills to pay! š«

Plot twist: the parental leave program is actually run by toddlers. That's why everything takes forever and makes no sense š¤”

As a parent, I can confirm toddlers would do a better job š

Anybody else notice that ever since they "upgraded" their system last year, everything's been even slower? Great job, govt š

Omg yes! It's like they took a functioning system and said "how can we make this worse?" š¤¦āāļø
