EDD Parental Leave Claim Stuck in Pending Status Since Feb 1 - No Updates
Hey everyone, I submitted my parental leave claim on February 1st and it's still showing as pending. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm getting worried because I haven't received any updates or letters from EDD since then. Any advice on what I should do next or how long I should expect to wait?

Ugh, I feel your pain! I went through the same thing last year. It took them almost 2 months to process my claim. The waiting game is brutal, especially when you're trying to plan for a new baby. Hang in there!

•2 months?! 😱 That's insane. Did you do anything to speed up the process or just wait it out?

•Honestly, I just had to wait it out. I tried calling a few times but could never get through. It was frustrating af but eventually it got sorted.

•Same boat here. Waited about 7 weeks. The system is so backed up its ridiculous 🙄

Have you tried calling them? Sometimes you can get more info if you actually talk to a rep. It's a pain to get through, but might be worth a shot.

•Pro tip: call right when they open. Set an alarm and start dialing at 7:59am. It's still a pain, but your chances are way better.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. •I get the skepticism, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•Can confirm, I used it too. Felt weird paying but it got the job done when I was desperate.

Here's what I've learned from my experience and research on EDD parental leave claims: 1. Processing times vary wildly, from 2-8 weeks on average. 2. If you haven't received any communication after 3 weeks, it's worth trying to contact them. 3. Make sure you've submitted all required documents. Missing paperwork is a common hold-up. 4. Check your spam folder regularly. Sometimes important emails end up there. 5. If possible, use their online portal to check for updates rather than calling. 6. If you do need to call, try early morning or late afternoon on Wednesdays or Thursdays. 7. Be prepared with your claim number and all relevant info when you do get through. Hope this helps! The system is frustrating, but hang in there. 💪

Have you checked your UI Online account? Sometimes there are updates there that you don't get notified about via email or mail.

Oof, I remember those days. My advice? Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online update. It might come in handy if there are any issues down the line.

•This! 💯 I had to appeal my claim and having all that documentation saved my butt.

Anyone else feel like the EDD is stuck in 1995? Their whole system needs a major overhaul smh

•For real tho. It's 2023 and we're still dealing with fax machines and snail mail 🐌

•Careful what you wish for. Remember the unemployment fiasco during COVID? Sometimes old and slow is better than new and broken 😅
