EDD Paid Parental Leave: No response after 3 weeks, when to expect payment?

Hey everyone, I applied for paid parental leave 3 weeks ago and still haven't heard anything back. I'm starting to get worried. On average, how long does it usually take to get the money after calling? Any advice would be appreciated!

I found a way to solve paid parental leave payment delays, watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjmFDxC2mfU

Congrats on the new addition to your family! In my experience, it typically takes about 7-10 business days to receive payment after speaking with an agent, assuming everything is in order. Have you received any notices or letters from EDD regarding your claim?

Thanks! No, I haven't received any letters yet. Should I be worried?

Not necessarily. Sometimes it can take a while for the paperwork to process. If you don't hear anything by the end of this week, I'd suggest giving them a call to check on the status.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I waited 6 weeks before I got my first payment. The system is so backed up rn 😩

3 weeks is nothing, unfortunately. I waited 2 months before I saw a dime. The EDD is swamped with claims. Keep calling and checking your online account for updates. Patience is key here, but also be persistent!

Hey, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

I was skeptical at first too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

$20 to actually talk to a human? might be worth it at this point lol

Here's what I've learned from my experience with paid parental leave: • The process can take anywhere from 2-8 weeks, depending on your case and current workload • Make sure ALL your paperwork is filled out correctly. Any mistakes can cause major delays • Keep checking your online account daily for updates • If you haven't heard anything after 4 weeks, start calling • Be prepared to wait on hold for hours (or use a service like others have mentioned) • Document everything: dates you called, who you spoke to, what they said • If you're really struggling, reach out to your local representative. They can sometimes help expedite things Hang in there! The system is frustrating, but you'll get your money eventually.

Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! This is really helpful. I'll definitely start checking my online account more frequently.

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way!

Anyone else feel like we need to start a class action lawsuit against EDD for all this bs? 🤔

I'm down. This is getting ridiculous.

Careful what you wish for. A lawsuit could tie things up even more 😬

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Filed my claim about 2.5 weeks ago and haven't heard a peep. It's so stressful when you're expecting that money to help with all the new baby expenses. From what I'm reading here, sounds like we just need to be patient (easier said than done). Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - at least I know I'm not alone in this frustrating process!
