EDD maternity leave application says I have account but I don't - help!
I'm trying to apply for maternity leave online but the system keeps telling me I already have an account. I know I don't have one! Has anyone else run into this issue? I called them and they knew how to fix it, but then put me on hold forever and hung up on me. So frustrating! Any advice on how to get this sorted out?

Ugh, classic EDD nonsense. I had a similar issue when applying for disability. Have you tried clearing your browser cache and cookies? Sometimes that helps with weird account issues.

ā¢Clearing cache rarely fixes EDD issues in my experience. Their system is just a hot mess š¤¦āāļø

ā¢True that. EDD's website is held together with duct tape and prayers at this point š

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Have you checked if maybe your partner or someone else created an account for you? Sometimes well-meaning family members try to help and end up causing more confusion.

I've been dealing with EDD for months now and let me tell you, their system is a complete joke. Here's what I've learned: ⢠Always write down the name and ID number of anyone you talk to ⢠Keep a log of all your calls and attempts to log in ⢠Take screenshots of any error messages ⢠Try calling right when they open or just before closing ⢠If all else fails, contact your local state representative's office. They can sometimes cut through the red tape. Hang in there, OP. It's a frustrating process but you'll get through it eventually!

Plot twist: You're actually in the Matrix and the EDD website is just a glitch š¤Æ

ā¢I wish! The red pill would probably be less painful than dealing with EDD š

Have you tried reaching out to them on social media? Sometimes their Twitter team is more responsive than phone support.

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the main line, try calling one of their auxiliary numbers and then asking to be transferred. Sometimes works like a charm!
