EDD SDI payment delayed - no messages, doctor sent extension. What to do?
So I'm freaking out a little bit. My unemployment payments usually hit every other Tuesday, but today nothing showed up. I haven't gotten any messages from EDD or anything. My doctor even sent in an extension for me at the beginning of the month to cover me for the next few months. Anyone else having issues with their payments not coming through? What should I do?

Did you certify for benefits this week? Sometimes people forget and that can delay payments.

•Yep, I always certify on time. That's not the issue here, unfortunately.

•It's good that you keep up with it. Just one missing certification can really throw things off.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your EDD account online for any updates or messages 2. Make sure all your certifications are up to date 3. Double-check that your doctor's extension was received and processed 4. If you can't find any info online, you'll need to call EDD (good luck with that) 5. Be prepared to wait on hold for hours 6. Have all your info ready when you call - claim number, dates of extension, etc. 7. If you can't get through, keep trying or consider reaching out to your local assembly member's office for help. Good luck, OP. The system sucks, but hang in there!

•This is solid advice. I'd add: document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every online interaction. It might come in handy later.

•I agree with documenting everything. Keeping records has saved me in similar situations with government offices.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Wait, what? Is this for real? Sounds too good to be true.

•$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•While $20 is a bit steep, some might find it worth it to avoid the hassle, especially if time is a factor.

•It might help to call your bank and confirm if there are any delays on their end.

Anyone else notice that these issues always seem to happen around holidays or the end of the month? It's like clockwork. 🕰️

•I've noticed that too. It's probably because of the increased workload during those times.

Ugh, I feel you. The EDD system is such a mess. I've had similar issues before. It's so frustrating when you're counting on that money and it doesn't show up. 😤

•Yeah, it's super stressful. I've got bills due and was really counting on this payment.

•Tell me about it. I once had to wait 3 weeks for a payment that was supposed to come in. EDD is a joke.

•It's true, the system is overburdened, but I've heard they are working on some improvements. Fingers crossed it helps us all.

Maybe try reaching out to your local assembly member? They sometimes have direct lines to EDD and can help push things through.

I'm in the same boat, OP. My payment didn't come through either. Starting to think there might be a system-wide issue.

•Oh snap, really? Maybe we should all start checking the EDD Twitter for updates.

Have you tried logging into your EDD account to check the status of your claim? Sometimes there can be delays in processing, especially if there's been a recent change like an extension.

•It might also be worth checking if there are any updates on the EDD website's news or alerts page that might explain the delay.

This is why we need a universal basic income. This bureaucratic nightmare is ridiculous.

With all these challenges, it might be worth using a service like Claimyr, which has been effective for some, to expedite the resolution of EDD issues. However, it should be noted that while Claimyr has proven useful for many, it comes at a cost, and there are potential alternatives such as contacting assembly members who can sometimes assist without any fees. Additionally, while a service fee might be worthwhile for avoiding long wait times on calls, it's important for individuals to weigh the costs versus the benefits, especially if finances are tight. Ultimately, patience, persistence, and multiple avenues of seeking help can sometimes be the best approach when dealing with bureaucratic systems like EDD.

Guys, I work in IT. The EDD system is running on ancient technology. It's a miracle it works at all. Be patient, but definitely follow up.

Plot twist: What if the doctor's extension actually caused a delay in processing? Maybe the system is recalculating your benefits.

Jasmine Quinn
•Huh, I hadn't thought of that. That could explain it. Still frustrating tho.

•It's possible. Administrative changes sometimes take time to reflect in the system.
