ESD payment shows processed but money not in bank - Tuesday deposit delay?

Hey everyone, I'm freaking out a little bit. I claimed my weekly benefits on the 3rd and always get my payment deposited on Tuesday like clockwork. It's now Wednesday evening and I still haven't received anything! I checked my ESD account and it says 'processed' but the money isn't in my bank account. This has never happened before in the 3 months I've been on unemployment. Bills are due Friday and I'm getting worried. Is anyone else experiencing delays this week? Is there a system issue going on? Tried calling but couldn't get through (of course).

Ugh, Thursday?? That's 2 days away still. Did they give any explanation when it finally showed up?

I've noticed that sometimes when a holiday falls near the processing date (even if it's not ON the processing date), it can cause delays in the banking system. Was Monday a bank holiday by chance? If it still doesn't show up by Friday, you should definitely try to contact ESD. The system might say processed, but there could be a hold or issue that only shows up on their end.

Nope, no holiday on Monday. I've never seen this happen before either. Usually the money hits my account early Tuesday like 1am or something. ESD system is so unreliable lately 😡 They expect us to be perfect with our weekly claims but can't even get payments out consistently!!!

Have you checked with your bank? Sometimes ESD processes it on their end but there's a delay with your bank posting it to your account. I had a similar situation where my bank was holding the deposit for an extra day due to some "verification" process they wouldn't explain. Might be worth giving your bank a call to see if they can see a pending deposit.

I called my bank and they said they don't see anything pending at all. So I don't think it's on their end. Really seems like ESD processed it in their system but it never actually went out? No idea how to get through to someone to check though.

I work in banking (not for ESD) and can tell you that ACH transfers sometimes get hung up between systems. The "processed" status probably means ESD submitted the payment instruction, but something might be delaying it in the transfer network. A few things to check: 1. Is your direct deposit information still correct in eServices? 2. Did you have any changes to your claim recently (like reporting earnings)? 3. Have you checked if there are any new messages in your ESD account? If all those check out, it's likely just a processing delay. Most ACH issues resolve themselves within 3 business days.

Thank you! I double-checked all those things. Same bank account info, no earnings to report, and no messages in my account. I guess I'll just wait until Friday before I completely panic. Just so stressful when you're counting on that money for bills.

Hey just letting you know I talked to my friend who also claims on the 3rd and he hasn't got his payment either, so definitely seems like an ESD thing affecting multiple people this week.

That's actually somewhat reassuring, thanks! At least I know it's not just my claim having issues.

Good luck getting through to ESD to ask about it!!! I spent THREE DAYS trying to get someone on the phone last month when they messed up my standby status. Called literally 27 times and either got a busy signal or was on hold for hours only to get disconnected. The whole system is designed to make you give up!

I had the same horrible experience trying to reach ESD. What finally worked for me was using Claimyr. It's a service that basically calls ESD for you and then connects you once they get through. Saved me hours of frustration. Their website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out. They have a video showing how it works too: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 - definitely worth it when you're dealing with payment issues that need immediate attention.

UPDATE: My payment just hit my account this morning (Thursday)! No explanation for the delay, it just showed up. Thanks everyone for the advice and reassurance. If this happens again, I'll definitely try getting through to ESD directly to find out if there's an underlying issue with my claim.

Glad it worked out! For future reference, if you see any pattern of payment delays (even if they do eventually come through), it's worth calling ESD. Sometimes these little glitches can be early warning signs of a developing issue with your claim. Always better to address it proactively.
