EDD SDI payment not authorized after doctor submitted extension - what to do?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment payments. My doctor submitted an extension on July 1st for July 3rd through October 1st, but my payment hasn't been authorized today like it usually is every other Tuesday. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do or say when I call them? I'm getting worried because I really need this money.

This might sound weird, but have you tried faxing your documents? I know it's 2023, but sometimes the old school methods work better with these outdated systems.

Faxing? Seriously? Where would I even find a fax machine these days? 😅

There are online faxing services that are pretty cheap. Might be worth a shot if nothing else works.

You can also try local libraries or office supply stores. Many have fax machines available for public use.

Hang in there, OP. The system sucks, but you're not alone. We're all fighting the same battle. Don't let the bureaucracy win! 💪

Agreed. Keep pushing. It’s tiring, but you’ll get through it.

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you have better luck then.

I’ve had some success with this method. Worth trying.

lol welcome to the club. We're all in the same sinking boat here 🚢💦 But seriously, don't give up. Keep calling and documenting everything. It's a pain, but persistence usually pays off eventually.

Bruh, I've been dealing with EDD for like 6 months now. It's a total clown show 🤡 My advice? Prepare to be on hold for hours and don't expect much. Sorry to be a downer, but that's been my experience.

Same here. I feel like I'm stuck in an endless loop of bureaucracy. It's soul-crushing.

Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things along.

Persistence is key. Sometimes reps can escalate the issue if you’re persistent.

I heard they're implementing a new system soon that's supposed to streamline everything. Anyone know if that's true or just another empty promise?

0 coins

I'll believe it when I see it. They've been saying that for years.

My friend who works for the state says it's actually happening this time. Fingers crossed! 🤞

Even if it's true, it could take time to be fully operational. Keep that in mind.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone without waiting for hours. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Wait, what? Is this for real? Sounds too good to be true.

$20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken.

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

How does it actually work? Do you have to give them your personal info?

Be careful with your personal information. Always read privacy policies before using such services.

Have you considered reaching out to your doctor to see if there was any issue with the extension submission? Sometimes the problem is on their end and EDD never received the paperwork.

Absolutely, it's possible the doctor’s office didn't send it correctly. It’s worth double-checking.

I had a similar issue last month. turns out there was a glitch in their system and a bunch of payments got delayed. It might be worth asking if theres any known technical issues when you call.

A glitch? Again? 🙄 EDD needs to get their act together fr

ikr? It's like they're stuck in the stone age or smthn

I agree, but glitches are inevitable with old systems. Best to stay informed and persistent.

Ugh, I feel your pain. The EDD system is such a mess rn. Have you tried checking your online account for any updates or messages? Sometimes they post important info there before they actually process anything.

Great point. Often, the online portal has notifications that aren't sent out via email or mail.

Here's what you need to do when you call: 1. Have your claim number and personal info ready 2. Tell them about the extension your doctor submitted on July 1 3. Ask if the extension has been processed 4. Find out if they need any additional info from you 5. Get a reference number for the call Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the detailed advice! I'll definitely use this when I call. Fingers crossed 🤞

This is solid advice. I'd add: be super nice to the rep, even if you're frustrated. They're more likely to go the extra mile for you.

Also, try to keep a record of all your correspondence with them. It can be helpful later.

From an authoritative perspective, unresolved unemployment payment issues can be incredibly stressful, especially if you rely on these payments for daily needs. The California EDD system is notorious for its inefficiencies and delays. Claimyr's calling tool is an innovative solution to bypass long wait times on the phone with EDD. They charge a $20 fee, which might seem steep, but for some, the time and frustration saved could be worth it. However, make sure you are careful with personal information when using third-party services. Additionally, keep an eye on the California EDD website and your personal account for any updates or notifications. This may provide insight into whether your extension was processed correctly. Communicate frequently with your doctor’s office to ensure they sent the required documents, as any error on their part could delay your payment. Document all interactions with EDD and consider involving your local representative if the issue persists, as they can sometimes expedite the process. While the system is trying to upgrade, patience and persistence are key in dealing with bureaucracy. Good luck!
