EDD Paternity Leave Claim Delayed 3 Weeks - Can I Take It in Chunks?
Hey everyone, I'm having some issues with my paternity leave claim. It's been 3 weeks now and I still haven't heard anything back. On top of that, I'm trying to figure out if I can take my leave in a staggered format. Anyone else dealing with similar delays or have experience with taking paternity leave in chunks?

Ugh, the waiting game is the worst! I had to wait almost 5 weeks for my claim to be processed. Have you tried calling them? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I've been trying to call but keep getting stuck on hold forever. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 20 minutes of hold time that way.

I took my paternity leave in chunks last year. It's definitely possible, but you need to get it approved beforehand. Make sure you submit a detailed plan of how you want to break it up. They were pretty flexible with me, but YMMV.

3 weeks aint bad tbh. I'm going on 2 months waiting for my claim to be processed. The system is so backed up its ridiculous.

2 months?! That's insane. Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help speed things up.

Hey guys, I found a method to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. $20 just to talk to someone? That's ridiculous. The system is so broken š¤®

I get it, but for me, it was worth it to finally get some answers. Time is money, ya know?

Here's what I know about paternity leave and staggered formats: ā¢ Yes, you can take paternity leave in a staggered format, but it needs to be pre-approved ā¢ Typically, you need to take at least 2 weeks at a time ā¢ The total leave time remains the same, you're just spreading it out ā¢ You'll need to provide a detailed plan to your employer and the leave administration ā¢ Be aware that taking it in chunks might affect your benefits calculation As for the delay, unfortunately that's pretty common right now. Keep trying to contact them, and make sure all your paperwork is in order. Good luck!
