PFL only paid for one day, need to extend leave - help!
Hey everyone, I'm having issues with my paid family leave claim. I was supposed to get payment for my entire leave period, but I only got paid for one day. I haven't actually received any money yet, and I need to extend my leave for two more weeks. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get this sorted out?

Ugh, that sucks! I had a similar issue last year. Have you tried calling the PFL office? Sometimes they can sort it out over the phone.

•I've been trying to call for days, but I can never get through. It's so frustrating!

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 20 minutes on hold that way.

•20 minutes? You got lucky! I was on hold for 2 hours last time ðŸ˜

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

•Yeah, it actually does! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration.

•$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. Is it worth it?

•For me, it was totally worth it. I got my issue resolved in one call instead of spending days trying to get through.

Make sure you double-check all your paperwork. Sometimes they deny claims or only partially approve them if there's missing info. Did you submit everything they asked for?

The whole system is broken af 🤬 I've been dealing with this nonsense for months. Good luck, OP. You're gonna need it.

•Preach! 🙌 The bureaucracy is insane. It's like they want us to give up.

Have you tried reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

•I hadn't thought of that. How do I find out who my rep is?

•Just google '[your city] state representative'. They usually have a constituent services office that can help with stuff like this.

Here's what I'd do: 1. Double-check all your paperwork to make sure everything's filled out correctly. 2. Try calling first thing in the morning when they open. 3. If you can't get through, consider using that Claimyr service someone mentioned. 4. While waiting, contact your local rep's office for help. 5. Document EVERYTHING. Every call, every letter, every email. 6. If they're still giving you the runaround after a week, file a formal complaint. Hang in there, OP. The system sucks, but you'll get through this!

idk if this helps, but I had to send in additional medical documentation when I extended my leave. Did they ask you for anything like that?

OMG yes, I went through this exact same thing! Only got paid for 3 days out of my 6-week leave initially. It turned out there was a glitch in their system that wasn't processing the full claim period correctly. What worked for me was emailing them with my claim number and a detailed timeline of what should have been covered. I sent it to the generic PFL email address but also CC'd their customer service manager (you can find the email on their website). Got a response within 48 hours and they fixed it. Also, for extending your leave - make sure you submit the extension request at least 2 weeks before your current leave ends if possible. They're super slow with processing extensions and you don't want a gap in coverage. Hope this helps! The system is frustrating but don't give up 💪
