EDD DE 429D Notice of Computation - Need help with additional approvals
Hey everyone, I just got a DE 429D notice of computation and now I need some approvals. Anyone else been through this? What should I expect? I'm kinda lost here and could use some advice.

Ugh, been there done that. The DE 429D is basically EDD's way of saying 'we did some math'. It shows how they calculated your benefit amount. If you need approvals after that, it usually means they need more info or there's a discrepancy. What exactly does your notice say?

ā¢Thanks for the reply! It doesn't say much, just that I need additional approvals. I'm worried this will delay my benefits. How long did it take for you?

ā¢It can vary, but for me it took about 3 weeks. Make sure you respond to any requests for info ASAP. That'll help speed things up.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

ā¢Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

ā¢I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. I was desperate after weeks of trying to get through. The $20 was worth it to finally talk to someone and get my issue resolved.

ā¢How long did you have to wait once they connected you?

ā¢Not long at all! Maybe 5 minutes? The service does all the waiting for you.

Here's what you need to know about the DE 429D and approvals: ⢠The DE 429D is just a breakdown of your benefit calculation ⢠If they're asking for additional approvals, it usually means: - They need to verify your identity - There's a discrepancy in your reported wages - They need more info about your employment history ⢠Be prepared to submit additional documentation ⢠Keep checking your UI Online account for any new messages or tasks ⢠If you don't hear anything within 2 weeks, try calling (I know, easier said than done) Hang in there, OP. The EDD system is a mess rn but you'll get through it!

Has anyone tried faxing their documents instead of uploading online? I heard it might be faster.

ā¢Hey, don't knock it till you try it! Sometimes old school methods work better with these outdated government systems.

Anyone else feel like they need a law degree to understand all these EDD forms and processes? š¤ I swear, it's like they make it complicated on purpose.

Heads up, there's been some changes to the approval process recently due to all the fraud cases. Make sure you're using the most up-to-date forms and info!

ā¢Oh no, I didn't know about this. Where can I find the most recent info?

ā¢Check the EDD website, they usually post updates there. Also, follow their Twitter account if you have one. They sometimes post important updates there too.

ā¢Oof, that's rough buddy. You'll probably need to talk to someone directly to fix that. Try the phone method someone mentioned earlier in the thread.

Just went through this same situation last month! The DE 429D notice can be confusing but it's actually a good sign - it means they've calculated your benefits and are just verifying everything is correct. The "additional approvals" usually means they need to double-check your work history or wage records. In my case, I had to submit a few extra pay stubs and it took about 2-3 weeks to get resolved. Don't stress too much, just make sure to respond quickly to any requests they send through your UI Online portal. The waiting is the worst part but hang in there! šŖ

ā¢This is really reassuring to hear! I've been so anxious about the whole process. It's good to know that someone recently went through the same thing and came out okay. I'll definitely keep an eye on my UI Online portal and respond quickly to any requests. Thanks for sharing your experience - it really helps to hear from people who've actually been through this!

Hey @Liam Fitzgerald! I just went through this exact same thing about 6 weeks ago. The DE 429D notice basically shows how they calculated your weekly benefit amount, and the "additional approvals" part usually means they need to verify some info before releasing your payments. In my case, they wanted me to verify my identity through ID.me and also needed clarification on my last employer's info. The whole process took about 4 weeks total, but once it was done, I got all my back payments in one lump sum. My advice: check your UI Online account daily for any new messages or document requests, and respond immediately when they ask for something. Also, don't panic if it takes a while - the system is just really backed up right now. You got this! š

ā¢Thanks so much @Arjun Patel! This is exactly what I needed to hear. The ID.me verification makes sense - I think that might be what they're looking for in my case too. It's really helpful to know that you got all your back payments once everything was sorted out. I was worried I might lose some benefits during this approval process. I'll definitely check my UI Online account daily and respond right away to anything they send. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience - it makes this whole confusing process feel a lot less scary! š

Just wanted to add my experience to help ease some anxiety here! I got the DE 429D about 3 months ago and was totally freaking out about the "additional approvals" part. Turns out they just needed me to verify my Social Security number and provide an additional W-2 from a part-time job I had forgotten to include initially. The whole thing took about 5 weeks, but like others mentioned, I got all my retroactive payments once it was approved. The key is really staying on top of your UI Online messages - they sent me two requests that I almost missed because they don't always send email notifications. Also, if you have to upload documents, make sure they're clear and readable. I had to resubmit one document because the photo was too blurry. Hang in there @Liam Fitzgerald - this community has been a lifesaver for navigating all this EDD chaos! š¤

The tip about checking UI Online messages regularly is super important - I had no idea they don t'always send email notifications! I ll'make sure to log in daily and double-check that any documents I upload are crystal clear. Really appreciate this community and how everyone shares their experiences to help each other out. It makes dealing with EDD so much less overwhelming! š

I'm new to this whole EDD process and just received my DE 429D notice yesterday. Reading through everyone's experiences here is incredibly helpful! It sounds like the "additional approvals" part is pretty standard and not something to panic about. I'm definitely going to follow the advice about checking my UI Online account daily and responding quickly to any requests. It's reassuring to know that others have gotten through this process successfully, even if it takes a few weeks. Thanks to everyone who shared their stories - it really helps newcomers like me understand what to expect! š

ā¢Welcome to the community @Dmitry Kuznetsov! You're absolutely right that this thread has been super informative - I was feeling pretty lost when I first posted but everyone's shared experiences have really helped calm my nerves. It's nice to know I'm not the only one going through this process right now. The advice about daily check-ins on UI Online seems to be the consistent theme from everyone who's successfully navigated this. Good luck with your case, and feel free to ask if you have any other questions as you go through the process!

Just wanted to jump in as someone who's been lurking here for a while and finally got my situation resolved! I received my DE 429D back in January and was terrified about the "additional approvals" part. After reading through so many posts here, I learned it's really just part of their standard verification process. In my case, they needed me to verify my identity through ID.me (which was actually pretty straightforward) and provide some additional wage documentation from a previous employer. The whole process took about 6 weeks, but I got all my retroactive payments once everything was approved. The biggest game-changer for me was setting up daily reminders to check my UI Online account - I almost missed an important document request because I was only checking weekly. Also, when uploading documents, I learned to save them as PDFs rather than photos for better quality. This community has been such a lifesaver throughout this whole process - seeing everyone's experiences really helped manage my anxiety and know what to expect. Thanks for creating such a supportive space for all of us dealing with EDD! š

ā¢@StarStrider thank you so much for sharing your detailed experience! It's incredibly helpful to hear from someone who recently went through the whole process from start to finish. The tip about setting up daily reminders is brilliant - I can definitely see how easy it would be to miss something important if you're only checking weekly. And the PDF vs photo tip for document uploads is something I wouldn't have thought of but makes total sense for better quality. Six weeks feels manageable knowing that you got all your retroactive payments in the end. I'm feeling much more confident about this whole process after reading everyone's experiences here. This community really is amazing - everyone is so willing to help each other navigate this confusing system! š

Hey @Liam Fitzgerald! I just went through this exact situation about 2 months ago and wanted to share what helped me get through it. The DE 429D notice with "additional approvals" had me super stressed at first, but it turned out to be much more routine than I expected. In my case, they needed me to verify my identity through ID.me and provide some additional documentation about my work history. The whole process took about 4-5 weeks, but the good news is I received all my back payments once everything was approved! My biggest piece of advice: set up a daily reminder to check your UI Online account because they don't always send email notifications for new requests. I almost missed a crucial document upload deadline because I was only checking every few days. Also, make sure any documents you upload are super clear - I had to resubmit one because the image quality wasn't good enough. The waiting is definitely the hardest part, but try not to stress too much. From what I've seen in this community, most people do get through the approval process successfully, it just takes patience. You've got this! šŖ

ā¢@Natalie Wang this is such helpful advice! I m'also going through the DE 429D approval process right now and was getting really anxious about it. Your tip about setting daily reminders to check UI Online is so smart - I ve'been checking sporadically and definitely don t'want to miss any important requests. It s'really reassuring to hear that you got all your back payments once everything was sorted out. The 4-5 week timeframe gives me a realistic expectation too. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience - this community has been incredible for helping newcomers like me understand what to expect! š

I'm going through the exact same thing right now! Got my DE 429D notice last week and have been checking this community every day trying to figure out what to expect. Reading through everyone's experiences here has been so reassuring - it sounds like the "additional approvals" part is pretty standard and not the scary thing I initially thought it was. Based on what I've learned from this thread, I've already set up daily reminders to check my UI Online account and I'm prepared to respond quickly to any document requests. It's amazing how much this community helps ease the anxiety of dealing with EDD's confusing processes. Thanks to everyone who's shared their stories - knowing that people are getting through this successfully (even if it takes a few weeks) makes such a difference! @Liam Fitzgerald hope your situation gets resolved quickly too! We're all in this together šŖ

ā¢@Caleb Stark I m'so glad I found this thread too! It s'incredible how much less scary this whole process feels when you hear from people who ve'actually been through it. I was honestly panicking when I first got my DE 429D notice because additional "approvals sounded" so ominous, but now I understand it s'just their standard verification process. Your idea about setting up daily reminders is spot on - I ve'already done the same thing after reading everyone s'advice here. It s'really comforting to know we re'not alone in this and that there are so many people willing to share their experiences to help others. This community is truly a lifesaver when dealing with EDD s'maze of processes! Here s'hoping both our cases get resolved smoothly š¤

Just wanted to chime in as someone who went through this exact same situation about 8 weeks ago! The DE 429D with "additional approvals" definitely sounds scary at first, but after reading through this thread and seeing everyone's experiences, it's clear this is pretty much a standard part of the process now. In my case, they needed me to verify my identity through ID.me (which was actually pretty straightforward once I got started) and provide some additional wage statements from a job I had earlier in the year. The whole thing took about 5 weeks from start to finish, but like others have mentioned, I did get all my retroactive payments once everything was approved. The best advice I can give is what everyone else has already said - check your UI Online account religiously! I set up a phone reminder for 9am every day and it saved me from missing a document request that had a tight deadline. Also, when uploading documents, take your time to make sure they're crystal clear - better to spend an extra few minutes getting a good scan than having to resubmit later. Hang in there @Liam Fitzgerald - this community has been amazing for navigating all the EDD confusion, and it sounds like you're getting great advice from everyone here! š

ā¢@Chloe Martin thank you so much for sharing your experience! It s'so reassuring to hear from someone who recently went through the entire process. The 5-week timeframe you mentioned gives me a realistic expectation, and knowing that you got all your retroactive payments once approved is exactly what I needed to hear. I love your idea about setting up a daily 9am phone reminder - that s'such a practical tip that I m'definitely going to implement. It would be so easy to miss something important otherwise! The advice about taking time to get clear document scans is also really valuable. This whole thread has been incredible for understanding what to expect and feeling less anxious about the process. Really appreciate you taking the time to help newcomers like me navigate this EDD maze! š

Just wanted to add my recent experience to help ease some worries! I received my DE 429D notice about 6 weeks ago and was completely overwhelmed by the "additional approvals" part. After reading through similar threads here, I learned it's actually a pretty routine verification step that EDD does now. In my case, they needed me to complete ID.me verification and submit additional documentation for a seasonal job I had worked earlier in the year. The whole process took about 4 weeks total, and I did receive all my back payments once everything was approved. The key things that helped me: 1) Checking UI Online daily (I set an alarm for 8am), 2) Responding to requests within 24 hours, and 3) Making sure all uploaded documents were high-quality PDFs rather than blurry phone photos. I know the waiting is stressful, but based on what I've seen in this community, most people do get through the approval process successfully. Don't hesitate to ask questions here - everyone's been super helpful sharing their experiences! You've got this! šŖ
