Will I get my CalWORKs payment on July 4th if my SAR7 is due July 5th?
So I'm a little stressed about my cash aid this month. I normally get my CalWORKs benefits loaded on the 4th of each month, but my SAR7 reporting form is due on July 5th. I know they're super strict about the reporting forms, but does anyone know if I'll still get my July payment on the 4th since technically my form isn't late yet? Or will they hold my benefits until they process my SAR7? I can't afford any delays with rent coming up and I'm afraid of what happens if there's an issue with my paperwork. Thanks for any help!

Your gonna be fine, they don't stop benefits until AFTER the reporting period. As long as u turn in SAR7 by the 5th ur good. I have same thing happen in April.

•Thanks! Do you know if they'll delay processing if I turn it in on the 5th? I'm planning to submit it on the 3rd just to be safe but wanted to know what happens if something goes wrong.

This is a common question! The simple answer is YES, you should receive your benefits on the 4th as usual. Here's why: 1. Your SAR7 due date (5th) is AFTER your payment date (4th) 2. Benefits aren't stopped until after the SAR7 becomes delinquent 3. The SAR7 isn't considered late until the end of the month following your submit month However, it's still a good practice to submit your SAR7 early (like you mentioned, by the 3rd). This gives the county time to process it and prevents any potential issues with your next month's benefits. Also, if you're ever having trouble reaching someone at the county office about SAR7 processing issues, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that helped me get through to a live worker when I was panicking about my reporting form. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/jzISHxCPLwE. Saved me hours of waiting on hold!

•Wow, that's super helpful! I didn't realize the SAR7 isn't technically late until the end of the month after. That makes me feel better. And I'll check out that service if I have trouble reaching someone - the hold times are ridiculous sometimes.

BE CAREFUL!!!! I thought the same thing last December and my benefits were DELAYED because even though my SAR7 wasn't "late" yet, the system automatically flags accounts with upcoming due dates!!! I would submit that SAR7 TODAY if I were you. Don't wait until the 3rd. They're so unpredictable and every county seems to handle things differently. The people telling you it's fine might be in different counties with different procedures.

•thats not how it works tho. the system doesnt auto flag accounts before the due date. sounds like something else was going on with ur case. maybe u hit ur income reporting threshold (IRT) or something?

I work with CalWORKs recipients regularly, and I can clarify this situation. Your benefits for July should be issued on the 4th as scheduled, regardless of your SAR7 due date being the following day. The SAR7 you're submitting in July is actually reporting your income/situation for the previous period and affects your future eligibility. However, I always recommend submitting your SAR7 as early as possible. If you wait until the 5th and there are any issues with your form (missing information, verification documents needed, etc.), it could potentially impact your August benefits. You can submit your SAR7 through BenefitsCal online for faster processing, or in person at your county office. Also, July 4th is a holiday - so depending on your county, your benefits might actually be loaded the day before (July 3rd) or the day after (July 5th). You might want to check with your county about their holiday schedule for benefit issuance.

•I totally forgot July 4th is a holiday! That's a good point. I'll definitely submit early through BenefitsCal. I had an issue last time where I needed to provide more verification docs, so I don't want to cut it close again.

I had this exact same worry when my SAR7 was due right after my payment date!!! Mine is always due on the 11th and I get paid on the 10th. I get sooooo nervous every time but I've never had a problem as long as I turn in the SAR7 before it's actually late. But definitely don't wait until the last minute because if anything is wrong with your paperwork, they'll discontinue you for the NEXT month. Also, when did u get your SAR7 in the mail? They're supposed to send it like 2 weeks before it's due.

•I got mine last week, so they did send it with enough time. I'm going to fill it out tonight and drop it off tomorrow. Thanks for sharing your experience - definitely makes me less worried!

Everyone is giving you different answers because the CalWORKs system is a MESS and totally broken. I've had workers tell me completely opposite things about the same policy. The SAR7 rules are supposed to be standardized but they're not. I've had benefits cut when my SAR7 wasn't even late yet, and other times they didn't care when I was a few days late. It all depends on who processes your case and what county you're in. The entire system is designed to make us fail so they can kick people off benefits. I'd submit that form ASAP and call to confirm they received it. Don't trust the system.

•While I understand your frustration, I want to clarify that there are standardized rules for SAR7 processing. What often happens is miscommunication or human error in explaining or applying those rules. The system isn't designed to make people fail - it's just understaffed and complicated. But your advice to submit early and confirm receipt is excellent!

•Yeah I can submit it through BenefitsCal! I just get nervous about the online system sometimes because you can't always tell if they received all your documents. But maybe I'll try it this time.
