Will CalWORKs Cash Aid deposit be delayed because of Easter this weekend?
Does anyone know if our CalWORKs Cash Aid will still get deposited this Sunday even though it's Easter? I'm counting on that money for rent but wasn't sure if the holiday affects the deposit date. Some people in my building said we might get it early (Friday or Saturday) because of the holiday, but my worker never mentioned anything about this. I'm getting nervous because my landlord doesn't care about holidays when rent is due. Has anyone received any official info about this?

Holidays dont effect electronic deposits anymore! My caseworker told me that direct deposits for CalWORKs run on automatic systems now, so Easter Sunday won't change anything. But if ur deposit date falls on the ACTUAL holiday u might get it the business day before. Check ur benefit letter for ur exact deposit date tho, that's more important than the day of the week.

•Thanks! My benefit letter says the 5th of each month but I wasn't sure since that falls on Easter Sunday this time. Really hoping it comes through on time.

CalWORKs Cash Aid deposits follow a set schedule regardless of holidays when they're done electronically. If your regular deposit date falls on Easter Sunday, you should still receive it that day. However, if you normally receive your benefits on the first of the month but that's a weekend or holiday, it would come the previous business day. The most reliable way to know your specific deposit date is to check your Notice of Action or call your county office to confirm.

•Actually, I just went through this with Valentine's Day falling on my deposit date last month. You're right that electronic deposits aren't affected by holidays EXCEPT for major federal banking holidays (New Year's, MLK Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4th, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas). Easter isn't a federal banking holiday, so deposits scheduled for Sunday will process normally.

•When I called yesterday about something else, I asked about this too. The worker confirmed Easter doesn't affect the CalWORKs deposit schedule since it's not a county holiday that closes their payment processing systems. Your deposit should come on your regular day.

OMG I HATE how they NEVER give clear information about this stuff!!! Every holiday I stress about whether my kids will have food because nobody can tell you straight if the money's coming or not. I've had THREE different workers tell me THREE different things about holiday deposits. And good luck trying to reach anybody at the county office to get a straight answer! 😡😡😡

•I feel you! I've been trying to call my caseworker for THREE DAYS about a verification issue and all I get is that stupid automated system. Have you tried using Claimyr? My friend told me about it (claimyr.com) and it got me through to a real person in like 20 minutes after I'd been trying for days. They have this demo video that shows how it works https://youtu.be/jzISHxCPLwE - seriously saved me so much frustration when I needed to fix my WTW hours issue.

•Thx for the suggestion, I'll look into that! Anything's better than sitting on hold for 3 hrs just to get disconnected 🙄

u should also check ur EBT app if u have it set up. sometimes it will tell u when the deposit is scheduled even before it hits ur account

•I didn't know the app showed pending deposits! That would help a lot with my anxiety about this. Going to download it right now, thanks for the tip!

Just to clarify a common misconception - there are no more "COVID deposits" for CalWORKs. Those emergency allotments ended back in 2023. What you're referring to is just your regular CalWORKs Cash Aid payment. The deposit schedule hasn't changed, so if your normal deposit day is the 5th, that's when you'll get it, Easter or not.

•You're right, I should have been clearer. I meant my regular Cash Aid payment, not a special COVID benefit. I started receiving CalWORKs during the pandemic and sometimes still call it that by mistake.
