CalWORKs payment not showing as pending in BenefitsCal - anyone else having this issue?
Is anyone else not seeing their Cash Aid pending in BenefitsCal? I'm supposed to get my payment on the 3rd but there's nothing showing as pending. I logged in 3 times already today & it's usually there by now showing as 'pending deposit'. Starting to worry because my rent is due on the 5th and I NEED this money. Haven't gotten any notices about discontinuance or anything. Called the customer service # but it just kept me on hold for 45 mins before I gave up. Do you think its cause of the holiday or is something wrong with my benefits??

Same thing happening to me right now. Mine usually shows pending 2-3 days before deposit too, but nothing showing for February yet. I think the system might be glitching cuz of the holiday yesterday. Last time this happened to me, the money still showed up on time even tho it never showed as pending. Give it till tomorrow morning before panicking.

•Thx for responding! Do u think we should still call our workers? I'm afraid that if I wait till tomorrow & something IS wrong its gonna be too late to fix it before the 3rd

This happens sometimes with the BenefitsCal system. It doesn't always show pending payments accurately, especially around holidays or the beginning of the month when their system is overloaded. If you haven't received any Notice of Action about discontinuance or reduction, your benefits should still process normally. The "pending" status is just an electronic notification and doesn't actually affect whether the payment will be deposited.

•Ok thats good to know. So as long as I didn't get a notice in the mail I should be fine? Haven't gotten anything from them in weeks

don't trust that website it's always wrong lol. my worker told me the pending thing is just a guess basically. i never even check it anymore. if u don't get ur money on the 3rd THEN u should worry

•This isn't entirely accurate. While the pending notification isn't always reliable, the BenefitsCal portal is the official system and generally shows accurate information. If benefits are discontinued, it would be reflected there and you would receive a Notice of Action. If the payment doesn't arrive on the scheduled date, you should contact your worker immediately.

did u submit your SAR7 report on time?? That happened to my sister when she was late with her reporting and she didn't even know they cut her off until the money didn't come

•Omg that's scary. I sent in my SAR7 like 3 weeks ago and got the text confirmation that they received it. I hope that's not it

I've been dealing with this EXACT problem trying to call my worker for 2 days. Finally got through using Claimyr.com and found out there was a system-wide delay in payment processing. The worker confirmed my payment is still coming on the 3rd even though it doesn't show pending. You can check out their video demo at https://youtu.be/jzISHxCPLwE if you're still trying to get through. It basically holds your place in line so you don't have to keep calling and getting disconnected.

•Thank u! I'll try calling again tomorrow and if I can't get thru I might try that. Did they charge u to use it?

•Yeah there is a fee, but it was worth it for me rather than waiting on hold forever and getting disconnected. Just knowing my payment was still coming gave me peace of mind. The worker also put a note in my file so if there are any issues they'll contact me directly.

•I used it like 4 days ago for groceries so that can't be it. But good to know that's a thing!

If you're concerned, I'd recommend checking these things: 1. Log into BenefitsCal and check your Messages section for any notices 2. Verify your case is still in Active status under Case Summary 3. Make sure you're not over the Income Reporting Threshold (IRT) 4. Check if you've reached your 48-month time limit (though you'd receive multiple notices) If everything looks normal, it's likely just a display issue. The system does maintenance around the 1st of each month which can delay the pending notifications. As long as your case shows Active and you haven't received a discontinuance notice, your payment should process normally.

•I just checked and my case says Active! That's a relief. And I def haven't hit the 48-month limit, only been on Cash Aid for 8 months. I also haven't had any income changes. Thank u for the checklist - feeling better now

Just wanted to update that I checked with a colleague who works for the county. There was a system update this week that's causing pending payments not to display properly in BenefitsCal, but it's not affecting actual payment processing. Unless you've received a discontinuance notice, your payment should arrive as scheduled. They're aware of the display issue and working to fix it.

•OMG THANK YOU!! That makes me feel so much better. I was freaking out thinking my rent was gonna be late. I'll update here if my payment comes through on the 3rd like normal

I'm new to CalWORKs and this is really helpful to know! I was getting worried because I'm expecting my first payment soon and wasn't sure what to expect with the BenefitsCal system. Good to hear that the pending status isn't always reliable and that payments can still come through even when it doesn't show up online. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - it's reassuring to know this is a common issue and not necessarily a sign that something's wrong with benefits.

•Welcome to CalWORKs! Yeah this community has been super helpful for me too. One thing I learned is to always keep checking your mail for any official notices - that's the most reliable way to know if there are any real issues with your benefits. The BenefitsCal website is helpful but like everyone said, it's not always accurate with the pending stuff. Hope your first payment goes smoothly!

I just went through something similar last month! My payment didn't show as pending for 4 days and I was panicking because I had bills due. Turns out it was just a system glitch - the money still hit my EBT card right on schedule even though it never showed pending. I've noticed this happens more often around holidays when their systems get backed up. Since your case shows Active and you haven't gotten any discontinuance notices, you should be good. The BenefitsCal pending feature is honestly more stressful than helpful sometimes! Try not to worry too much, but definitely follow up with your worker if the payment doesn't come through on the 3rd as expected.

•Thanks for sharing your experience! It's really reassuring to hear from someone who went through the exact same thing. I'm definitely feeling less stressed now knowing that the payment can still come through even without the pending notification. I'll try to stay calm and just wait until the 3rd, but it's good to know I'm not the only one who's dealt with this system glitch. Appreciate everyone in this community being so helpful!

This happened to me a few months ago and I was so stressed! Mine didn't show pending for almost a week but the payment still came through on time. What I learned is that the BenefitsCal system sometimes has delays updating the pending status, especially around the beginning of the month when everyone is checking their accounts. Since your case shows as Active and you haven't received any notices, that's a really good sign. The pending notification is just for our peace of mind - it doesn't actually control whether the payment gets processed. I'd say wait until the 3rd and if the money doesn't show up by then, definitely call your worker. But based on everyone's experiences here, it sounds like you should be fine. Keep us posted on what happens!

•Thanks for sharing this! As someone new to the program, it's really helpful to hear from people who've been through this before. I was starting to panic a bit reading the original post because I'm still learning how everything works. It sounds like the pending notification issue is pretty common and not something to worry about as long as your case status shows Active. I'll definitely keep this in mind for my own future payments. This community is so supportive - everyone sharing their experiences really helps newcomers like me understand what to expect!

I'm dealing with the same issue right now! My CalWORKs payment is supposed to come on the 3rd too, but there's nothing showing as pending in BenefitsCal. I've been checking multiple times a day and getting really anxious about it. Reading through everyone's responses here is making me feel a lot better though - it sounds like this is a pretty common glitch with their system, especially around holidays. I haven't received any discontinuance notices either, and my case still shows as Active when I log in. It's frustrating that their pending notification system isn't more reliable since we all depend on knowing when our payments are coming. Thanks for posting about this - sometimes it helps just knowing you're not the only one going through it! I'll wait until the 3rd and see if the payment comes through as scheduled, but it's reassuring to hear from others who've had the same experience and still got their money on time.
