Anyone received pending CalWORKs Cash Aid for April 2025 yet? Payment date confusion
Is anybody seeing their April CalWORKs cash aid as pending in their account yet? Mine usually shows as pending by the 25th but nothing so far this month. Called the automated system and it says my case is active but no payment info. Getting worried cause rent due next week and I got 3 kids to feed. Anyone else having delays or just me? The BenefitsCal app isn't showing anything either.

•It's stressful right? I'm under my IRT still but wondering if they're reviewing something without telling me. Last time they stopped my benefits they didn't even notify me until AFTER.

There's actually a county-wide delay affecting April payments. My worker mentioned it when I called about something else yesterday. They said it's due to a system update and payments should be pending by the 28th instead of the usual schedule. This isn't affecting everyone, but about 30% of recipients are experiencing the delay. Your benefits aren't being discontinued - just delayed by 2-3 days. If you're worried, I recommend calling your worker directly to confirm your specific situation. Although with the call volume right now, it might be hard to get through.

•how do you even get through to a worker?? I been trying for 3 days and either get voicemail or disconnected after waiting 45+ minutes

•Thank you! Good to know it's not just me. I'll try to be patient then. Never had this happen before in the 2 years I've been on Cash Aid.

I use this service called Claimyr when I need to reach my CalWORKs worker fast. It's been a game-changer honestly. They call the county for you and when a worker answers, they connect you. Saved me from the endless hold music nightmare. I used it last month when my SAR7 wasn't processed and they got me through in about 20 minutes instead of me trying all day. Check out their demo video if you're curious: https://youtu.be/jzISHxCPLwE or their website claimyr.com

•Thanks for the tip! Might try that if my benefits aren't pending by tomorrow. Did you have to give them a lot of personal info? Just nervous about that kind of stuff.

•Nah, they just need your phone number so they can call you back when they get a worker. They don't ask for any of your case details or anything. They're just making the call for you basically.

This happens EVERY SINGLE TIME they do a "system update" - which seems to be every other month now! Last time my homeless assistance payment was delayed by a week because of their incompetence. I had to sleep in my car with my kids for TWO EXTRA DAYS!!! They never warn us ahead of time either. The whole system is BROKEN! And btw don't believe that 2-3 days nonsense. Last time my worker said that and it took 9 DAYS to fix!!!

•I'm sorry you had that experience. The 2-3 day timeframe is what they're officially stating, but you're right that sometimes these things take longer. If anyone is at risk of homelessness due to the delay, make sure to tell your worker immediately. There are emergency protocols they can follow.

I experienced something similar last month with my CalWORKs payment. It turned out I had hit my Income Reporting Threshold (IRT) without realizing it because of a small side job I started. When your income goes over your IRT, you have to report it within 10 days even if it's not time for your regular SAR7. Might be worth checking if anything changed with your income that could have triggered a review? Even if you're under your IRT, sometimes the system flags accounts for random verification checks. Have you received any notices in the mail in the past few weeks?

•I haven't gone over my IRT - I'm only working part-time right now. But you're right about checking mail more carefully. I have a stack I haven't opened yet because most of it looks like junk. Going to go through it now just in case.

•Definitely check those! County offices often send notices that look like standard mail. Also, verify your address is current in BenefitsCal because sometimes they send important notices to old addresses even after you've updated your information.

Glad to hear payments are coming through! For future reference, if your CalWORKs payment is ever more than 5 business days late, you can request an Emergency Payment at your local office. You'll need to show proof of an urgent need (like an eviction notice or utility shut-off). Also, it's good practice to save the EBT customer service number (877-328-9677) and your county office number in your phone for situations like this. The automated system can often tell you if a payment has been authorized even before it shows as pending.

•Thank you for this info! I'm going to save both those numbers right now. Never knew about the emergency payment option.

So glad everyone's payments are coming through! This whole thread was super helpful - I'm new to CalWORKs (just got approved last month) and was freaking out when my first payment didn't show up on schedule. Reading everyone's experiences really helped me understand this stuff happens sometimes. Definitely saving those phone numbers and gonna keep an eye out for any official mail. Thanks to everyone who shared info and resources!

•Welcome to CalWORKs! It's totally normal to feel stressed about payment delays when you're new to the system. One thing I learned is to always check your BenefitsCal account AND call that automated line when payments seem late - sometimes one shows the info before the other. Also, don't hesitate to ask questions here - this community has been super helpful for me too when I was figuring everything out. Hope your future payments come through smoothly!
