CalFresh benefits not showing as pending for March 2025 - still active but no pending deposit?

Anyone else not seeing their CalFresh benefits showing as pending for March yet? I usually see mine in pending status at least a week before they load, but it's already the 27th and nothing's showing up. My account says I'm still active and eligible (just checked on BenefitsCal), and I submitted my SAR7 two months ago with no issues. Customer service line keeps disconnecting me after 45 minutes on hold. I'm getting worried since my current benefits are almost gone and I have 3 kids to feed. Is this happening to anyone else or should I panic?

This has been happening to a lot of people this month - there seems to be a system delay. My worker told me they're updating the EBT deposit system statewide, so benefits might not show as pending but should still load on your regular issuance date. As long as your case shows active in BenefitsCal and you're up to date on your reporting requirements, you should be fine. What day of the month do your benefits normally deposit?

Thanks for responding! I normally get mine on the 1st of each month. I've been on CalFresh for 2 years and have never had this happen. I'm just nervous because my kids eat so much and we're down to our last $53 on the card. Really hope they come through on the 1st even without showing pending!

Try not to worry too much yet! The system upgrade is affecting the pending notifications, but actual deposits should still happen on schedule. Double-check your BenefitsCal account - if it says Active, your benefits should load. You might want to call early morning (right when they open) for best chance of getting through.

The county is ALWAYS doing this lately. They make these "system improvements" without telling anyone, then when you call to find out what's going on, you can't even get through! I've been on CalFresh for 6 years and it's gotten worse every year. A NOTICE would be nice? Like hey, don't panic when you don't see pending deposits? But why would they bother actually COMMUNICATING with us?? 🙄

Yep, this happens every time they update anything. Last year when they changed the income reporting thresholds they didn't tell anyone until AFTER everyone panicked about benefit amounts changing. I had to go in person to the office to get answers.

I've had this happen before and found a solution that might help you get answers faster. Have you tried using Claimyr to get through to a CalFresh worker? I was stuck in the same situation last update cycle and used it to skip the phone queue. You can see how it works at https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 - it basically calls you back when they reach a real person. Got through in about 15 minutes when I had been trying for days. The worker confirmed my benefits were still coming even though they weren't showing as pending in the system.

Never heard of this before - does it actually work? I've literally spent hours on hold this week. I'll try anything at this point because I just need to confirm whether my benefits are coming or if there's a problem I need to fix ASAP.

Mine didnt show pending either but just loaded this morning! Check your balance, maybe yours came through too?

Just checked and nothing yet, but that gives me hope! My issuance date is the 1st so maybe it'll just appear then without the pending notification. Thanks for letting me know!

I work for a community org that helps with benefit issues, and we've been hearing about this all week. It's a statewide EBT system update that's affecting the "pending" notifications, but not the actual benefit issuance. Two important things to check: 1. Make sure your BenefitsCal account shows "Active" status 2. Verify you've submitted all required forms (SAR7 or Recertification) If both of those are good, your benefits should load on your regular issuance date. The pending status is just a notification feature, not part of the actual payment system. If your benefits don't load on your regular date, then reach out to your county office immediately.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! That makes me feel so much better. My account does show active and my SAR7 was processed in January with no issues. I'll wait until my regular deposit date before panicking. I wish they'd just announce these system updates so people don't worry unnecessarily.

does this affect cash aid too or just calfresh?? im supposed to get both

Good question. The system update primarily affects the CalFresh pending notifications, but some clients have reported similar issues with CalWORKs cash aid pending notifications as well. However, the actual deposits for both programs should still process on schedule. If your case is active in the system for both programs, both benefits should load on their normal issuance dates.

My sister had this happen but it was because she didn't report her teenager got a part-time job, and they found out through income matching with EDD. Even though her account showed active, they were calculating a benefit reduction. Not saying that's your situation, but sometimes there's more going on than just system glitches.

Oh that's concerning. No one in my household has gotten a new job, but my ex did finally start paying child support last month. It's only $325/month though, and I did report it on my last quarterly report. Do you think that could cause a delay?

Child support is countable income for CalFresh, but if you reported it properly on your SAR7, it should already be factored into your current benefit amount. A change in child support wouldn't typically cause your benefits to disappear completely without notice - they would send you a Notice of Action with the new benefit calculation. It sounds more like the system update issue others have mentioned.

UPDATE: My benefits just loaded this morning (the 1st) even though they never showed as pending! Full amount too. Looks like it was just the system update affecting the pending notification like everyone said. Relief!! Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance!

Great news! Glad to hear it worked out. This is good confirmation for others experiencing the same issue that it's just the notification system and not an actual benefit problem.
