CalFresh quarterly reporting website down? Can't check my verification status for 3 weeks!
I submitted all my quarterly reporting documents for CalFresh through the BenefitsCal website on February 10th, but it's been almost 3 weeks and I STILL can't see any status updates. Every time I log in to check, it just says 'processing' with no other information. The 'Check My Benefits Status' section is completely blank! I've tried calling my county office at least 6 times but keep getting disconnected after waiting 45+ minutes. I'm getting worried because my benefits are supposed to reload on March 15th and I need to know if there's some document they need that didn't go through. Anyone else having trouble with the BenefitsCal website status updates recently? Or know a better way to check if my SAR7 was received properly?

•Seems like they'd at least put a notice on the site if they're doing updates! I'm just paranoid they'll say they never got something and cut off my benefits. Did you eventually get through?

The BenefitsCal system has been experiencing significant delays since their January 2025 update. This is unfortunately affecting status visibility for many counties. You should still be able to check your EBT balance through the separate EBT app or by calling the number on the back of your card to confirm if benefits were loaded. The technical issue doesn't necessarily mean your SAR7 wasn't processed correctly - many counties are still processing documents on time even though the status updates aren't showing online. For your peace of mind, try these options: 1. Call the EBT customer service number (not your county office) to check if benefits were issued 2. Check if your county has a document upload receipt system - some send confirmation emails 3. If you used the BenefitsCal app to submit docs, check your 'Uploaded Documents' section for confirmation

•Wait hold up is this affecting people who submitted RECERTIFICATIONS too?? My annual recert is due next week and I was gonna submit online but now I'm scared! Should I mail a paper copy instead or take it directly to the office??? I cannot lose my benefits, I have 3 kids!

I had this EXACT SAME PROBLEM last month!!! The website said "processing" for WEEKS but when I finally got through to my caseworker, she said they never received my quarterly report! By then I was already cut off and had to reapply. Don't trust that stupid website - they claim it's "processing" but their system isn't talking to the county systems properly. My worker said they've been dealing with this since the system upgrade.

•Oh no, that's exactly what I'm afraid of! Did you have to completely reapply or were they able to just reactivate your benefits? How long did it take to get them back?

Have you tried logging in at different times of the day? I noticed the website works better very early in the morning (like 6am) or late at night after 10pm. During regular business hours it seems overloaded. Also, try clearing your browser cache or using a completely different browser - I had problems with Chrome but Firefox worked fine for me. I think they're having database synchronization issues since the January update. My caseworker mentioned they're working on a fix, but it might take another month. If your benefits are due to reload soon and you're worried, I'd recommend using the Claimyr service to get through to a real person at your county office. I was skeptical at first but it worked great - check out their demo at https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8 or visit claimyr.com. They got me through to a live worker in about 10 minutes when I'd been trying for days. My worker was able to manually verify that my documents were received even though the website wasn't showing it.

•Does that service actually work? Last time I tried calling my county it took 3 HOURS and then I got disconnected right when someone picked up. Thought I was gonna throw my phone through a window lol

This is happening across multiple counties right now. The system integration between BenefitsCal and the county-level SAWS systems is experiencing technical difficulties. This doesn't always mean your documents weren't received though. To verify your SAR7 was properly received: 1. First check your document upload history in BenefitsCal - there should be a section showing what you've uploaded and when, even if the status isn't updating 2. If you received a confirmation number when you submitted, write that down - county workers can trace your submission with that number 3. Call your county office but try during non-peak hours (early morning or late afternoon on Wednesdays and Thursdays tend to have shorter wait times) 4. If you're within 7 days of your benefit issuance date and still can't confirm, consider visiting your county office in person with printed copies of everything you submitted online The good news is that most counties are aware of this issue and many are not discontinuing benefits solely because of these technical problems, as long as you actually submitted your documents on time.

•Thank you! I didn't know about checking the document upload history section - I just checked and my SAR7 is listed there with the date I uploaded it, so that's somewhat reassuring. I'll try calling during the times you suggested.

they should just get rid of these stupid quarterly reports anyway. why do we have to keep proving we're poor every 3 months?? such a waste of time

Quick update based on what I'm hearing from some workers: If your documents are showing in your upload history, there's a good chance they were received by the county system even if the status isn't updating properly. Many counties are doing manual checks of the document repository to process SAR7s during this system issue. If your benefits don't reload on March 15th, request an administrative hearing immediately - you have 90 days to appeal if your benefits are incorrectly discontinued.

•That's really good to know - thank you! I have screenshots of my upload confirmation just in case. I'll definitely request a hearing immediately if my benefits aren't reloaded on time.

I had this issue last month and somebody told me to check my junk email folder - turned out the county HAD sent me an email saying they needed more info but it went to spam! Might be worth checking?

•Just checked my spam folder and there's nothing there from the county 😕 But that's a good tip to keep checking there too, thanks!
