When does CalFresh EBT balance update for April 2025? App showing nothing
Getting really worried here. It's March 28th and my CalFresh app still isn't showing the April deposit date. Usually by now I can see when next month's benefits will drop so I can plan my grocery shopping. My issuance date has always been the 3rd, but the app just shows my current balance with no pending deposit info. Has something changed with how they show upcoming deposits? Or could there be a problem with my case? Anyone else's BenefitsCal app not updating with April's deposit date yet?

•That makes me feel a little better. So yours isn't showing April's deposit either? I'm just worried because I budget really tight and need to know exactly when the money will be there.

The BenefitsCal app and website typically show the next month's issuance date about 3-5 days before the end of the current month. Since today is only the 28th, you might see it update by the 30th or 31st. If your regular issuance date is the 3rd, that shouldn't change unless there was a change in your case (like you moved counties or had a household composition change). If you don't see the deposit date by the 31st, there are a few possibilities: 1. System delay or technical glitch 2. Pending verification issue that might require your attention 3. Quarterly system maintenance (they sometimes do updates at month-end) Your benefits should still arrive on your regular date even if the app doesn't show it yet.

•Thank you for the detailed explanation. I didn't realize they only update it 3-5 days before month-end. I'll wait until the 31st before panicking. Nothing has changed with my case so hopefully it's just not updated yet.

I had this exact issue last month. The app didn't update until literally the last day of February, but my benefits still loaded on time on the 11th like they always do. I think they're doing some kind of system update because my friend who gets CalWORKs (not CalFresh) said her payment info was delayed showing up too. If you really need to confirm, instead of waiting hours on hold with the county, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). It's this service that calls the CalFresh office for you and gets a worker to call you back directly. I was skeptical but it actually worked - got a call back in about 30 minutes after waiting on hold for 3+ hours the day before. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8

•That's so helpful, thank you! I might try that service if I don't see an update by the 31st. Did the worker explain why the app was delayed showing the deposit date when you called?

•The worker said it was because their internal system and the app don't sync in real-time. They process benefits in batches and then that info has to get pushed to the app, which can sometimes be delayed. She said as long as your case is in good standing, your benefits will still load on your regular day even if the app doesn't show it ahead of time.

UGH i hate this stupid app!! mine has been saying "pending processing" for 2 WEEKS now but when i called they said everything is fine and my benefits will come on the 10th like always. the whole system is broken if u ask me. they need to fix this garbage or go back to the old site that actually WORKED!!!

The CalFresh issuance calendar for 2025 hasn't changed, so if your regular date is the 3rd, that should remain consistent unless there's been a change to your case. Some technical context that might help explain what you're seeing: The BenefitsCal app pulls data from multiple systems, and there are often delays in how that information syncs. The actual benefit issuance system (EBT) is separate from both the eligibility system and the app interface. In most counties, benefits are pre-authorized about 3 days before the end of the month, which is when you'd normally see the pending deposit. However, this timing can vary based on weekends, holidays, and county processing schedules. If you don't see an update by the 1st, I'd recommend checking your EBT account directly through the separate EBT app or website rather than BenefitsCal, as that will show more current information about pending deposits.

•Thank you for explaining! I didn't realize there was a separate EBT app that might show more updated info. I'll download that and check there too. It's just strange because for the past 6 months, the BenefitsCal app has shown my next month's deposit date by the 26th or 27th.

•Yes, the separate California EBT app (or the website at www.ebt.ca.gov) connects more directly to the benefit issuance system. BenefitsCal is more for case management, documents, and reporting. The timing can also change slightly from month to month depending on workload and staffing at your specific county office.

My benefits always come on the 14th but app only shows it like 2 days before sometimes. Don't stress, the money will be there!!

•Just checked and mine is showing now too! Thanks everyone for the reassurance. Benefits will be deposited on the 3rd like usual.

Glad you got it sorted out! This happens way more often than it should. For future reference, if you ever need to check your benefit status quickly, you can also text your EBT card number to 511-411 and get your balance info that way - sometimes that updates faster than the apps do. It's saved me from panicking a few times when the systems are being slow to sync up.
