CalFresh deposit date showing tomorrow on BenefitsCal but not on EBT app - will benefits actually arrive?

Really confused right now. My CalFresh benefits are supposed to be deposited tomorrow (the 10th) according to BenefitsCal website, but when I check the EBT app it's not showing any pending deposit for tomorrow. This has me super worried because my fridge is practically empty and I've been counting on these benefits arriving on time. Usually both systems show the same date. Has anyone experienced this discrepancy before? Will my benefits actually get loaded tomorrow or is there some kind of delay happening? My case number still shows active so I don't think I'm discontinued, but this inconsistency between the two systems has me stressed out.

mine does that sometimes. EBT app is slow to update but benefits usually show up same day theyre supposed to. check first thing tomorrow morning, bet itll be there

Thanks for the quick reply! Really hope you're right. Just nervous because this is the first time I've seen the two systems showing different info. Will definitely check first thing.

The BenefitsCal website is usually more accurate than the EBT app in my experience. The app sometimes doesn't update until the actual deposit hits your account. As long as your certification period is still active and you haven't missed any reporting requirements like your SAR7, your benefits should load automatically on your regular issuance date. What day of the month do you usually get your benefits?

I always get them on the 10th. And yes, my certification is active until September 2025 and I submitted my SAR7 back in January. Guess I'll find out tomorrow, just hate this uncertainty!

This happens frequently with the systems not syncing properly. The BenefitsCal portal pulls directly from the county's eligibility system (CalSAWS/C-IV), while the EBT app connects to a separate transaction system. If BenefitsCal shows your benefits are scheduled for tomorrow, that's the authoritative source. The benefits should load automatically at midnight, though sometimes it takes until 2-3am for them to appear. If they don't show up by tomorrow afternoon, that's when you should contact your county office.

Thank you for explaining that! I didn't realize they use different systems. Makes me feel better knowing BenefitsCal is the more reliable one.

OMG this happened to me last month too!!! I was FREAKING OUT but then woke up and everything was there. The EBT app is garbage honestly.

If your benefits don't show up by tomorrow afternoon, good luck getting through to the county office... I spent 3 HOURS on hold last month trying to figure out why my benefits were cut. Just kept going in circles with that stupid automated system and getting disconnected. RIDICULOUS!!!

I had the same issue trying to reach someone about a verification issue. What finally worked for me was using Claimyr (claimyr.com). It's a service that basically waits on hold for you and calls when a real person answers. Saved me literally hours of frustration. They have a video that explains how it works: https://youtu.be/eZ19FHRETv8?si=_CXnXqNXbLl26WB8. Worth it when you're desperate to talk to a real human at the county.

Please update us tomorrow! I've been having issues with my account too but for a different reason (they keep saying I didn't submit verification documents when I KNOW I uploaded them through BenefitsCal). Interested to hear if your benefits show up on time.

Just checked at 6am and my benefits are there! Looks like the app just didn't update with the pending deposit, but the benefits loaded automatically as scheduled. Such a relief!

Told ya! 👍 the app is always behind

Just a tip for the future - I always screenshot my BenefitsCal account showing active status and benefit amounts each month. That way if there's ever a dispute about whether you were supposed to receive benefits, you have documentation. With these systems not always syncing properly, it's good to have your own records.

That's really smart! I'm going to start doing that every month. Thanks for the suggestion!

My bestie works for the county and she says their computer systems are from like the stone ages lol. Sometimes the CalFresh and CalWORKs payments show different dates in different systems but they almost always go through on schedule. I remember one time my cousin thought her benefits were discontinued but it was just some glitch in the website!!

So glad to hear your benefits came through on time! This is actually a pretty common issue - I've seen it happen to several people in my family too. The EBT app seems to have a delay in showing pending deposits, but as long as BenefitsCal shows your benefits are scheduled, they usually load automatically. It's definitely stressful when you're depending on those benefits though. For anyone else reading this who might have the same concern in the future, BenefitsCal is definitely the more reliable source for checking your benefit status and deposit dates.

This is such valuable information! I'm new to CalFresh and had no idea there could be differences between the two systems. It's reassuring to know that BenefitsCal is the more reliable source - I'll definitely keep that in mind for future reference. Thanks for sharing this insight, it'll help me avoid unnecessary stress if I ever encounter the same issue!
