CalWORKs Cash Aid deposit missing on payment date - anyone else not receiving benefits today?
Is anyone else having issues with their Cash Aid payment today? My benefits were supposed to hit my EBT card at midnight like they always do but I'm still showing a $0 balance. My payment date is definitely today (the 1st) according to my CalWIN account. I called the EBT customer service number but that automated system just confirmed my balance is $0. I can't afford to be waiting days for this money - I have rent due and my landlord doesn't care about CalWORKs payment delays! This happened back in November too and I ended up getting charged late fees I couldn't afford. Anyone else experiencing this or know what's going on with the system today?

Same here!! Mine always posts at midnight and nothing yet. I checked BenefitsCal and it shows my case is active and payment is authorized, but nothing on my card. I'm freaking out cause I have bills scheduled to come out today. The county office doesn't even open for another 2 hours ðŸ˜

•So frustrating! Let me know if yours shows up. I'll try calling the county when they open but last time this happened I was on hold for almost 3 hours before getting disconnected.

•I definitely get paid on the 1st every month - it's been that way for over a year. And I just did my SAR7 last month and everything was processed fine according to my worker. My BenefitsCal account shows my case is active but I don't see any payment status info there.

This could be happening for a few different reasons. First, check if you're over the Income Reporting Threshold (IRT) - if you earned more income than your IRT amount and didn't report it, they might have put a hold on your payment. Second, sometimes there are processing delays if the 1st falls on or near a weekend or holiday. Third, there could be a system-wide issue with the EBT deposit system. I would recommend calling your county office directly to ask about the status of your payment. They can see in their system if your payment was actually issued or if there's a hold for some reason. Your eligibility worker should be able to tell you exactly what's happening.

•Thanks for the detailed response. I definitely didn't go over my IRT - I've actually been unemployed for the past 3 months and just started my WTW activities. I'm thinking it might be a system issue since other people are having the same problem. I'll try calling my worker but that's always a nightmare.

I used to work for the County and this happens sometimes when there's a system processing delay. Most likely everyone will get their payment by end of day. But if you want to check on your specific case, definitely call your worker. The general customer service line usually doesn't have access to payment status information.

•Just want to add that if you need to reach your CalWORKs worker quickly, try using Claimyr.com - it's what I use whenever I need to get through to my county worker. You can watch how it works here: https://youtu.be/jzISHxCPLwE. Basically it waits on hold for you and calls you back when a human answers. Saved me HOURS of hold time last month when my kid's childcare assistance wasn't being processed right.

This happens literally EVERY OTHER MONTH with CalWORKs. The system is so broken it's ridiculous!!! Last month they randomly decreased my cash aid amount with NO NOTICE and when I finally got through to someone after calling for THREE DAYS they said 'oh that was an error we'll fix it'. And guess what? They never did fix it and I had to file for a hearing. Now I document EVERYTHING and take screenshots of all my BenefitsCal notices. The county workers don't care that people's LIVES depend on these benefits coming on time.

•Seriously!! And they expect us to report everything instantly when our income changes by like $10 but they can be days late with our money and we're just supposed to deal with it? How are we supposed to pay bills on time?

UPDATE: My payment just posted about 10 minutes ago! Looks like it was just delayed. So relieved. For anyone else waiting, keep checking your account - seems like they're processing them throughout the day.

Glad to hear your payment came through! For future reference, if this happens again and you need to reach your worker quickly, calling early in the morning (right when they open) usually gives you the best chance of getting through without extremely long wait times. Also make sure you're documenting all your WTW activities properly - sometimes payment delays can happen if there are any questions about your participation hours.

•Thanks for the advice! I've been keeping track of all my WTW hours in a separate notebook just to be safe. Early morning calls are definitely better, but even then I've waited 45+ minutes sometimes. At least this time it resolved itself!

This exact same thing happened to me last month! My payment was delayed by about 6 hours and I was panicking because my car payment was set to auto-deduct that morning. Turns out there was some kind of processing issue with the EBT system that day. I called my county office and they confirmed the payment had been authorized on their end but said sometimes there are delays between when they release the funds and when it actually shows up on our cards. Super stressful when you're counting on that money! Glad to see from the other comments that people's payments are starting to come through - hopefully this gets resolved quickly for everyone still waiting.
