MOHELA payment taken from bank but not showing on account - help!
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with MOHELA. I made a payment on my unsubsidized loan a few days ago, and the money was taken out of my bank account, but it's not showing up on my MOHELA account. Has anyone else dealt with this? I'm worried because it's a pretty big payment and I don't want it to get lost in the system. Any advice on how to handle this?

Ugh, MOHELA strikes again! 🙄 I swear they're always messing something up. Have you tried calling them yet? Be prepared to wait on hold for like 3 hours tho lol

•Not yet, I'm dreading the hold time. But I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and call them tomorrow. Any tips for getting through faster?

I had the exact same issue last month! It's super frustrating, but don't panic. Here's what I did: 1. Double-check your bank statement to make sure the payment went through on your end. 2. Log into your MOHELA account and look for any pending transactions. 3. If you don't see anything, call MOHELA customer service (be prepared for a long wait). 4. When you get through, explain the situation calmly and ask them to check for any pending or unprocessed payments. 5. If they can't find it, ask them to escalate the issue and get a case number. 6. Follow up via email so you have a paper trail. It took about a week, but they eventually found my payment and applied it correctly. Hang in there!

•Thank you so much for this detailed response! It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one who's dealt with this. I'll definitely follow these steps.

•This is solid advice. I'd add: take screenshots of everything, including your bank statement. You never know when you might need proof.

Have you tried checking your spam folder for a confirmation email? Sometimes MOHELA's emails end up there for me.

•Guys, let's not assume malice. They're probably just understaffed and overworked. Still sucks for us tho.

I found a method to get someone on the phone quickly. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/kfgsWnbb8cU

•Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work? How long did you have to wait?

•It worked great for me! I only waited about 5 minutes after they connected me. Saved me hours of hold time.

•$20 seems steep just to make a phone call. Is it really worth it?

•For me, it was totally worth it. Time is money, and I didn't have to waste half my day on hold. Plus, I got my issue resolved quickly.

This happened to me once, turns out I accidentally paid to my old loan servicer instead of MOHELA. Double-check that you used the right account info!

Have you tried reaching out to MOHELA on social media? Sometimes they're more responsive there. Worth a shot!

Oof, MOHELA and their payment shenanigans. Classic. 🙄 Hang in there, OP. You're definitely not alone in this struggle.

This is such a common issue with MOHELA unfortunately! I went through something similar a few months back. One thing that helped me was logging into my bank account and taking a screenshot of the transaction with the date, amount, and reference number. When I finally got through to MOHELA (took forever on hold), having that info ready made the process go much smoother. They were able to track down my payment using the reference number. Also, if you have online banking, check if there's a "transaction details" section that shows where exactly the payment went - sometimes the routing info can help them locate it faster. Hope you get it sorted out soon!

•This is really helpful advice! I never thought about getting the reference number from my bank's transaction details. That's a great tip for anyone dealing with payment issues. Thanks for sharing your experience - it gives me hope that this will get resolved!
