ESD website down? Can't log in to check claim status this morning
Anyone else getting nowhere with the ESD website today? I've been trying to login since 7:30am to file my weekly claim and the page either freezes on loading or gives me that stupid 'service unavailable' message. I've tried from my phone and laptop, cleared cookies, and even tried Edge instead of Chrome (ugh). Nothing's working! My claim is in adjudication and I NEED to see if there's been any updates. Is this happening to everyone or just me? My anxiety is through the roof right now!!

ā¢Ugh, why don't they ever WARN us about maintenance?? They expect us to file on time but then make it impossible to do so. š¤¬

This happens every couple of months, usually when they're updating their systems. ESD typically does maintenance on Sunday nights into Monday mornings, but they don't always post notifications. The site should be back up by noon based on past outages. If your weekly claim is due today, don't worry - they automatically give a 24-hour grace period when there are system outages. Just keep your confirmation number when you do file!

ā¢Thanks for the info! That's a relief about the grace period. I'll try again after lunch then. Still frustrating though!

THE WHOLE SYSTEM IS BROKEN!!!! I've been in adjudication for SIX WEEKS with absolutely NO COMMUNICATION! Now I can't even check to see if there's been movement. They're probably doing this ON PURPOSE to avoid paying claims!!!!

ā¢I understand your frustration with the system, but website maintenance is normal and doesn't affect the processing of claims in adjudication. That happens on separate backend systems. For your adjudication issue, have you tried calling the claims center directly? After struggling with a similar situation last month, I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual agent. There's a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. It bypassed the hold time and I got my adjudication resolved that same day.

I'm a former IT worker at a different state agency (not ESD) and I can tell you these systems are incredibly outdated. Many state unemployment systems still run on COBOL programming from the 1980s with modern interfaces patched on top. When they do maintenance, the whole thing often needs to go offline. While it's frustrating, it's usually to fix bugs or implement required changes from the legislature. In the meantime, if you're worried about your weekly claim, remember you can file by phone using the automated system at 800-318-6022. The phone system often works when the website is down.

ā¢Thanks for the insider perspective! I tried the phone system too but it's just giving busy signals. Guess everyone had the same idea. I'll just keep trying the website periodically.

Is it back up for anyone yet? Still down for me at 11:45am. Getting really worried because I have that interview tomorrow and need to check if they approved my standby status so I know what to tell the employer about availability.

UPDATE: The site appears to be functioning again as of 12:15pm. If you're still having trouble, try clearing your browser cache completely or using incognito/private browsing mode. For anyone with weekly claims due today, remember to capture screenshots of your confirmation page after submitting. With system issues like this, it's always good to have proof of timely filing in case there are any questions later.

ā¢Yes! Finally got in! Thanks everyone for confirming it wasn't just me. My claim status finally updated too - adjudication complete and payment pending for tomorrow! What a rollercoaster this morning has been.
