ESD website login page keeps refreshing - tried everything but can't access my claim
I'm totally at my wit's end with the ESD website! Every time I try to login to check my unemployment claim status, the page just refreshes back to the login screen without any error message. I've literally tried EVERYTHING I can think of: - Different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge) - Incognito/private browsing mode - My desktop computer AND my laptop - Even tried on my phone - Cleared all cookies/cache/browsing history - Restarted my router This has been happening for 3 days straight and I'm freaking out because I need to file my weekly claim by tomorrow or I'll miss out on benefits. Has anyone else run into this weird login loop problem recently? Any solutions that worked for you? I'm desperate at this point!

This happened to me last month! The login refresh loop is usually caused by session cookie issues. Try these extra steps that fixed it for me: 1. Make sure your browser is fully updated to the latest version 2. Temporarily disable any browser extensions/add-ons (especially ad blockers or security extensions) 3. Check that your device's date and time are set correctly and synced 4. Try using Microsoft Edge specifically - for some reason ESD's site works better with it 5. Make sure you're going directly to secure.esd.wa.gov and not through any bookmarks or links If none of that works, there might be an issue with your account that requires ESD intervention.

ā¢Thank you so much for the suggestions! I'll try disabling my extensions - I do have uBlock Origin running which might be causing issues. I didn't think about checking my computer's date/time either. Will give those a shot right now and report back.

ā¢Me too! Been dealing with this since Tuesday. Their whole system feels like it's from 2005 lol. Good luck getting through on the phone too - I tried calling 37 times yesterday before giving up.

I've seen this issue several times with clients I help with unemployment claims. There are two additional fixes worth trying: 1. Change your SecureAccess Washington (SAW) password - sometimes the password sync between SAW and ESD gets corrupted 2. Try logging in during off-peak hours (early morning 6-7am or late evening after 8pm) when the system has less traffic If it's urgent and you need to file tomorrow, you can also file your weekly claim by phone using the automated system at 800-318-6022. Just have your SSN and PIN ready. The automated system is available 24/7 and sometimes works when the website doesn't.

ā¢I didn't know about the phone filing option! That's a huge relief - at least I can get my weekly claim in while I sort out the website issues. I'll definitely try the password reset too. Do you know if changing my SAW password could lock me out completely or cause other problems with my claim?

Have you tried reaching out to ESD directly about this issue? When I had a similar problem, I needed to speak with their technical support team to resolve it. Unfortunately, getting through on their regular phone line can take hours or days with how busy they are. I recently discovered a service called Claimyr that helped me get through to an ESD agent within 20 minutes instead of waiting for days. They basically hold your place in line and call you when they get an agent. I used it to fix my account access issue and it saved me so much frustration. There's a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 and the website is claimyr.com if you want to check it out. Definitely worth it for me since I was about to miss my payment deadline too.

ā¢Is that service legit? I'm always suspicious of third-party companies that charge to connect you with government agencies. No offense but sounds a bit sketchy to pay someone just to call ESD for you.

ā¢I was skeptical too, but it worked for me. They don't actually call ESD for you - they just connect you directly with ESD when they reach an agent. You're the one talking to ESD, they just handle the waiting part. I wasted 3 days trying to get through on my own before using it.

THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH ESD!!! Their system SUCKS and they don't fix ANYTHING!!! I've had nothing but problems for MONTHS trying to get my benefits. Every week it's something new - can't login, payments delayed, mysterious "adjudication" with NO explanation. The whole department needs to be investigated for incompetence!!! I've lost almost $2600 because of their errors and nobody seems to care!!!!

Have you tried using a completely different network? My login kept refreshing when I was on my home wifi, but when I used my phone's hotspot it suddenly worked. Might be worth a shot if you haven't tried that yet.

ā¢That's a really interesting suggestion! I haven't tried a different network. I'll see if I can use my neighbor's wifi or try the hotspot option. Weird that it would be network-specific but at this point I'll try anything.

Any update? Were you able to get in with any of these suggestions?

ā¢Yes!! Success! It was actually a combination of things. I reset my SAW password AND used Edge with all extensions disabled. Now I can login again! Filed my weekly claim with 5 hours to spare. Thanks everyone for your help - this forum saved me!

Great to hear you got it resolved! One more tip for the future - take screenshots whenever you submit anything on the ESD website. I always tell people to document everything with screenshots showing confirmation numbers and timestamps. It's saved many of my clients when ESD claimed they never received something that was definitely submitted. Also, consider signing up for direct deposit if you haven't already. The ESD debit cards have been having their own issues lately.

ā¢That's excellent advice about the screenshots. I'll definitely start doing that. I've already got direct deposit set up thankfully - learned that lesson the hard way when my first payment was delayed by almost 2 weeks waiting for that card to arrive!

So glad you got it working! This exact same login loop issue happened to me about 6 months ago and it was incredibly stressful. For anyone else reading this thread who might face this problem in the future, I found that sometimes the ESD website has compatibility issues with certain internet security software too. I had to temporarily disable my Kaspersky firewall to get through. It's frustrating that we have to jump through so many hoops just to access our own benefits, but at least there are workarounds. Thanks for sharing your solution - the SAW password reset + Edge browser combo is definitely worth remembering!

ā¢Thanks for mentioning the security software issue! That's something I wouldn't have thought of. It's crazy how many different things can interfere with the ESD website - browser extensions, firewalls, even network connections. Really shows how fragile their system is. I'm bookmarking this whole thread in case I run into problems again. The community knowledge here is way more helpful than anything on ESD's official help pages!

I'm a new member here and just wanted to say this thread is incredibly helpful! I've been having similar login issues with the ESD website for the past two days and was starting to panic. Reading through all these solutions gives me hope that I can get this sorted out. I'm going to try the SAW password reset and Edge browser combo that worked for Darren, plus disable my antivirus temporarily like Collins mentioned. It's reassuring to know I'm not the only one dealing with these website problems - the ESD system really does seem fragile. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and solutions!

ā¢Welcome to the community Miguel! You're definitely not alone with these ESD website issues - it seems like so many of us have been through this frustrating experience. The combination approach really does seem to work best from what I've seen in this thread. I'd also suggest trying the phone filing option (800-318-6022) that Mateusius mentioned as a backup plan, just in case the website fixes don't work right away. It's good to have multiple ways to file your claim so you don't miss any deadlines. Hope you get it sorted out quickly!

Just wanted to add another potential fix that helped me when I had this same login loop issue a few weeks ago. If you're using a VPN, try disconnecting it temporarily. I was using ExpressVPN and didn't even think about it affecting the ESD website, but once I disconnected, the login worked perfectly. Apparently some VPN IP addresses get flagged by their security system and cause the refresh loop. Also, if you have multiple tabs open with ESD pages, close them all and start fresh with just one tab - I noticed that helped too. The ESD website seems really picky about browser sessions and cookies!

ā¢Great point about the VPN! I never would have thought of that being an issue. It makes sense though - government websites are probably extra cautious about security and might block certain IP ranges. The multiple tabs suggestion is smart too. I've noticed with other government websites that they can get confused if you have multiple sessions running. Thanks for adding these tips - between all the solutions in this thread, hopefully anyone dealing with this login loop problem will find something that works for them!

As someone who just joined this community after struggling with ESD issues myself, I'm amazed at how helpful everyone is here! I've been dealing with intermittent login problems for weeks and this thread has given me so many solutions I hadn't considered. The fact that Darren got it working with the SAW password reset + Edge browser combo gives me real hope. I'm also bookmarking the phone filing number (800-318-6022) - I had no idea that was even an option! It's frustrating that we have to become tech experts just to access our unemployment benefits, but at least we can help each other figure it out. The ESD website really needs a major overhaul, but until then, threads like this are invaluable. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and solutions!

ā¢Welcome to the community Lucas! I'm also pretty new here but this thread has been a lifesaver. It's really reassuring to see how supportive everyone is when dealing with these ESD nightmares. I've been bookmarking all these solutions too - the VPN tip from Emma, the security software issues Collins mentioned, plus all the browser troubleshooting steps. It's kind of ridiculous that we need a whole arsenal of fixes just to log into a government website, but I'm grateful people share what works for them. Definitely keep that phone number handy as backup - knowing there's another way to file claims takes some of the panic away when the website acts up!

New member here and this thread is a goldmine! I've been battling the same login refresh loop for the past week and was getting desperate. Reading through everyone's solutions, I'm realizing there are so many potential causes I hadn't considered. I'm going to work through the checklist: SAW password reset, try Edge browser, disable extensions, check my VPN connection, and make sure I don't have multiple ESD tabs open. It's incredible how many different things can break their login system! Really appreciate everyone sharing what worked for them. Also saving that phone number (800-318-6022) as my backup plan. This community is way more helpful than ESD's actual support resources!

ā¢Welcome to the community Malia! You've got a solid troubleshooting plan there. I'd also suggest adding Emma's tip about disconnecting your VPN if you're using one - that seems to be a common culprit that people don't think of initially. The fact that this thread has turned into such a comprehensive troubleshooting guide really shows how widespread these ESD login issues are. It's frustrating that we all have to become IT specialists just to access our benefits, but I'm glad we can help each other out. Definitely keep that phone backup option handy - it's saved several people in this thread when the website completely failed them. Good luck getting through!
