ESD website login loop after SAW authentication - can't access my claim
Is anyone else having this frustrating issue with the ESD website? I can log into my SecureAccess Washington (SAW) account no problem, but when I try to access the ESD unemployment site using my SAW credentials, it just refreshes back to the ESD login page in an endless loop. I've been trying for 3 days and can't check my claim status or file my weekly claim. My payment was supposed to hit yesterday and I'm getting stressed because I can't see if there's a problem. I've tried different browsers (Chrome and Edge) and even cleared my cookies. Does anyone know how to fix this or is ESD having system issues again?

•At least I'm not the only one. Have you found any way around it? I'm worried about missing my weekly filing deadline.

try turning off any adblockers or popupblockers u have. that fixed it for me last month when i had the same issue. also make sure your not using incognito mode.

•Thanks! I'll try disabling my adblocker right now. I didn't think of that.

•This is actually a well-known issue with the ESD portal. In addition to disabling adblockers, make sure you're allowing cookies specifically for esd.wa.gov and secure.esd.wa.gov domains. If you're using VPN, that can also cause authentication loops with SAW. The technical explanation is that the SAW authentication token isn't being properly passed to or recognized by the ESD system.

I HAD THIS EXACT PROBLEM LAST WEEK!!! It's so infuriating!! I spent 2 days trying everything - different browsers, clearing cache, restarting computer, etc. Nothing worked and I couldn't file my weekly claim on time. Then I finally got through to someone at ESD after calling 36 TIMES and they told me they were having "known authentication issues" but hadn't bothered to post anything about it on their website!!! They said they'd backdate my claim but we'll see if that actually happens. The whole system is broken and they don't care about us!!

•how did you actually get through to them? ive been calling the 800 number for three days and either get a busy signal or it hangs up on me after the automated message

I experienced this login loop issue last month. Here's what fixed it for me: 1. Clear your browser cache completely (not just cookies) 2. Make sure you're using the correct link: secure.esd.wa.gov/home/ (not just esd.wa.gov) 3. Disable any browser extensions/add-ons temporarily 4. Try using an incognito/private window 5. If all else fails, try using your phone instead of computer Another possibility is that your account might be locked if you've had too many failed login attempts. In that case, you'll need to contact ESD directly to reset it. Hope this helps!

•Thank you for these detailed steps! I tried all of them and #4 worked - using incognito mode fixed it! So weird since someone above said NOT to use incognito. But I'm finally in and was able to see my claim. The payment is pending so that's a relief. Thanks again!

When this happened to me, I had to contact ESD directly because it turned out my account had some sort of flag on it that was causing the authentication loop. If you've tried all the browser fixes and still can't get in, you probably need to speak with an actual agent. I know calling ESD is nearly impossible, but I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an agent in about 15 minutes instead of spending days redialing. They have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 The agent was able to remove whatever flag was on my account, and I could log in normally after that. Just mentioning this because sometimes it's not just a browser issue.

•Have you tried accessing the site during non-peak hours? Sometimes the authentication servers get overloaded during the day, especially on Sundays and Mondays when everyone is filing weekly claims. Try late evening (after 9pm) or very early morning (5-6am) when traffic is lower.

It sounds like the ESD system is experiencing another round of authentication issues. This happens periodically, especially after they do system updates (which they typically do at month-end). If you need to file a weekly claim and can't access the online system, remember you can also file by phone using the automated system at 800-318-6022. You won't be able to check your claim status this way, but at least you can submit your weekly claim to prevent payment delays. For those who got in using incognito mode - that works for some people because it bypasses stored cookies that might be causing conflicts. For others, incognito prevents necessary cookies from being saved, which is why you get contradictory advice about it. If you're consistently locked out after trying all technical solutions, it usually indicates an account-specific issue that only an ESD agent can resolve. Unfortunately, reaching them by phone is the only option in those cases.

•Thanks for explaining why some solutions work for some people but not others! I was confused about the contradictory advice. Good reminder about the phone filing option too - I'll keep that in mind if this happens again.

I'm dealing with this same login loop issue right now! It's so frustrating. I tried most of the suggestions here - cleared cache, disabled adblocker, tried different browsers - but what finally worked for me was using a completely different device. I switched from my laptop to my tablet and was able to get in immediately. Might be worth trying if you have access to another computer or mobile device. Also, I noticed the issue seems worse during peak hours (weekday mornings and Sunday/Monday evenings when everyone is filing claims). Sometimes just waiting a few hours and trying again helps.

I'm experiencing this exact same issue! Been stuck in the login loop for two days now. I tried clearing my cache and disabling adblocker like some of you suggested, but still no luck. The weird thing is I can log into SAW perfectly fine, but as soon as it redirects to the ESD site, it just bounces me back to the login page. This is my first time dealing with this problem - is this something that happens regularly with their system? I'm supposed to file my weekly claim by tomorrow and I'm starting to panic. Going to try the incognito mode suggestion next, and if that doesn't work, maybe I'll attempt the phone filing option. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - at least I know I'm not going crazy!

•Hey! I just went through this exact same thing yesterday and I totally understand the panic - especially with the weekly filing deadline looming. The good news is it's definitely not just you, and it's not permanent! I found that the incognito mode trick worked for me too after trying everything else first. If that doesn't work, definitely try accessing from a different device like Harper mentioned - sometimes it's just a weird browser/device-specific issue. And don't forget about the phone filing option at 800-318-6022 if you absolutely can't get the website working before your deadline. The automated system isn't as user-friendly but it'll get your claim filed on time. You've got this!

Just wanted to update everyone - I was having this same login loop issue for the past week and finally got it resolved! After trying all the browser fixes mentioned here (clearing cache, disabling extensions, different browsers), what worked for me was actually a combination of things: I used Firefox in private browsing mode AND made sure to go directly to secure.esd.wa.gov/home/ instead of the regular esd.wa.gov site. Apparently there can be redirect issues between the different URLs that cause the authentication loop. Also want to echo what Miguel said about the phone filing option - I used 800-318-6022 twice while dealing with this issue and it saved me from missing my weekly claim deadlines. The automated system is clunky but it works. Hope this helps someone else who's stuck in the same frustrating situation!
