ESD E-Services login page keeps refreshing despite correct credentials - SAW works fine

I'm at my wit's end trying to access my ESD account through E-Services. I can log into the SecureAccess Washington (SAW) site just fine with my username and password, but when I try to use those SAME credentials on the E-Services login page, all it does is refresh the page. No error message, no explanation - it just reloads the login page as if I never entered anything! I've tried different browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge), cleared my cache/cookies, and even reset my password TWICE. Still just refreshes. I've called technical support 5 times this week but always get the "due to high call volume, please call back another time" message before it disconnects me. I need to file my weekly claim by tomorrow or I'll miss this week's benefits! Anyone else experiencing this or know how to fix it? Starting to wonder if there's some system-wide glitch.

This happened to me last month! It's super frustrating. Try these steps that fixed it for me: 1. Clear your browser cache completely (not just cookies) 2. Make sure you're not using any password manager auto-fill 3. Disable any browser extensions/add-ons temporarily 4. Try using incognito/private browsing mode Also, make sure you're going through the SAW portal first and then clicking through to ESD, rather than trying to log in directly on the ESD page. The direct login sometimes has this refresh loop problem.

Thank you so much! The incognito mode suggestion worked!! For some reason my regular browser kept refreshing but incognito let me through. Weird that it only affects the ESD portal and not the main SAW login. Really appreciate the help!

OMG THIS IS HAPPENING TO ME TOO!!!! Been trying since monday and keep getting the refresh thing. so annoying. didnt even get a error message. just keeps asking for my login over and over. i thought i was going crazy lol

Try the incognito browser mode like I suggested to the original poster. It seems to bypass whatever is causing the refresh loop. Let us know if it works for you too!

This is actually a known issue with ESD's integration with the SAW system. The two systems sometimes get out of sync with each other. I've found that waiting about 30 minutes after logging into SAW before trying to access ESD can help. Also, make sure you're completely logging out of both systems before trying again. If you keep having problems, you might want to try Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an actual ESD agent who can fix this on their end. I was dealing with a similar issue for almost a week and couldn't get through, but Claimyr got me connected to an agent in about 20 minutes who reset something on my account. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3

is that service legit? seems sketchy that you have to pay money just to talk to unemployment. shouldnt we be able to reach them for free???

0 coins

It's legitimate. I was skeptical too but it's just a service that helps you get through the phone system. The government should absolutely make it easier to contact them directly, but when you're potentially missing benefits because you can't log in, sometimes it's worth it to get the issue resolved quickly.

The refresh issue has been happening since ESD updated their security protocols in January 2025. It's more common for accounts that were created before the update. Here's the official workaround from ESD technical support: 1. Go to esd.wa.gov (not directly to eServices) 2. Click the "Sign in or create account" button 3. When redirected to SAW, log in there 4. Click the "Employment Security" service tile 5. This should bypass the refresh issue If that still doesn't work, you'll need to contact ESD to have them reset your account linking. Unfortunately, the phone lines are always jammed, so that's a challenge in itself.

Thank you for explaining why this is happening. I created my account back in 2023, so that makes sense. I tried your method and it worked! For anyone else with this problem - definitely go through the main esd.wa.gov site first instead of bookmarking the direct eServices login page like I was doing.

I had this EXACT same problem and it was driving me crazy. Called ESD for three days straight with no luck getting through. What fixed it for me was completely deleting my SAW account and creating a brand new one from scratch. Then I had to re-link my ESD account to the new SAW account. It's drastic but it worked when nothing else did. BTW - make sure you're using the exact same email for both accounts. I found out I had accidentally used a slightly different email for ESD than I had for SAW (one had a period in the gmail address and one didn't), and apparently that can cause the refresh loop too.

That sounds so complicated! Thankfully the incognito browser mode worked for me, but I'll keep this in mind if I have problems again. I didn't realize the email addresses had to match exactly - good tip about the gmail periods.

this is why I always print out the paper forms and mail them in lol. technology always breaks and then your stuck without benefits. old school methods still work!

While I understand your frustration, paper claims actually take much longer to process. ESD processes online claims in 1-3 days while paper claims can take 2-3 weeks. Also, not all claim types can even be filed by paper anymore. The online system is usually more reliable than it seems right now.

UPDATE: I tried the incognito browser thing and IT WORKED!! thanks everyone!! filed my claim just in time

I'm dealing with this exact same issue right now! Been trying to log in for two days and getting the same refresh loop. I can access SAW fine but E-Services just keeps reloading. Reading through all these solutions - I'm going to try the incognito mode first since that seems to work for most people. If that doesn't work, I'll try going through the main esd.wa.gov site like Carmen suggested. Really frustrating that ESD changed their system in January without properly notifying users or fixing these compatibility issues. Thanks everyone for sharing your workarounds!

Hope the incognito mode works for you! If not, definitely try Carmen's method of going through the main ESD site first - that seems to be the most reliable fix for the refresh issue. It's really annoying that they rolled out this security update without testing it properly or giving users a heads up. At least there are workarounds that don't require waiting on hold for hours. Let us know which solution ends up working for you!

Just wanted to add another potential solution that worked for me when I had this same refresh loop issue last week. If the incognito mode and going through the main ESD site don't work, try disabling JavaScript temporarily in your browser settings, then re-enabling it after you get to the login page. Sometimes the refresh loop is caused by conflicting JavaScript from cached sessions. Also, make sure you're not using any VPN or proxy services - ESD's new security system seems to flag those and cause the refresh issue. The whole situation is ridiculous though - they really should have tested these changes better before rolling them out to everyone!

That's a great additional tip about disabling JavaScript temporarily! I hadn't heard that one before. The VPN point is really important too - I bet a lot of people don't realize that could be causing the issue. It's so frustrating that we have to jump through all these hoops just to access benefits we're entitled to. ESD really needs to do better with their system updates and actually communicate these changes to users instead of leaving us all to figure out workarounds on our own.

I've been dealing with this same refresh loop issue for the past few days and it's incredibly frustrating! After reading through everyone's solutions, I tried the incognito mode approach first and it worked perfectly. For anyone still struggling, here's what I learned: 1. The incognito/private browsing mode seems to be the quickest fix for most people 2. If that doesn't work, go through esd.wa.gov first instead of directly to eServices 3. Make sure your email addresses match exactly between SAW and ESD accounts It's really disappointing that ESD rolled out these security changes in January without proper testing or user notification. We shouldn't have to rely on community forums to figure out workarounds for basic system functionality. Thanks to everyone who shared their solutions - this thread probably saved dozens of people from missing their benefit deadlines!

This is such a helpful summary of all the solutions! I'm new to dealing with ESD and was panicking when I couldn't log in yesterday. Just tried the incognito mode and it worked like a charm. It's really concerning that a government system has these kinds of basic functionality issues, especially when people depend on these benefits. Thank you to everyone who shared their workarounds - you probably saved me hours of frustration and potentially missing my claim deadline. Hopefully ESD will actually fix this properly soon instead of forcing users to find these workarounds.

I'm having this exact same problem right now! Been trying to log in for the past hour and getting the endless refresh loop. Reading through all these solutions, it sounds like the incognito/private browsing mode is the most reliable quick fix. I'm going to try that first, then work my way through the other suggestions if needed. It's really frustrating that ESD made these security changes back in January without properly informing users or ensuring the system worked smoothly. We're all just trying to file our claims on time and access benefits we're entitled to. Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their workarounds - this community support is invaluable when the official support channels are impossible to reach! Will update once I try these solutions to let others know what worked for me.

I just went through this same nightmare last week! The incognito mode trick worked for me too after nothing else did. It's so ridiculous that we have to use workarounds just to access basic government services. I also found that completely closing all browser windows before trying incognito mode helped - seems like there might be some session conflicts happening. Really hope ESD gets their act together and fixes this properly instead of leaving us to figure it out ourselves. Good luck and definitely let us know which solution works for you!

I'm experiencing this exact same issue! Started happening to me yesterday and it's driving me crazy. I can log into SAW perfectly fine, but the moment I try to access E-Services it just keeps refreshing the login page with no error message whatsoever. Based on all the helpful suggestions here, I'm going to try the incognito browser mode first since that seems to work for most people. If that doesn't work, I'll try Carmen's method of going through the main esd.wa.gov site instead of directly to E-Services. It's absolutely ridiculous that ESD pushed out these security updates in January without proper testing or user communication. We shouldn't have to hunt down workarounds on community forums just to access our benefits! Thank you everyone for sharing your solutions - this thread is a lifesaver when ESD's phone support is completely unreachable.

I just dealt with this same refresh loop issue a few days ago and it was so frustrating! The incognito mode trick worked perfectly for me too. One thing I'd add is to make sure you completely close all your regular browser windows before opening incognito - I found that helped avoid any session conflicts. Also, once you get logged in successfully through incognito, you might want to clear your regular browser's cache completely and try logging in normally again. Sometimes that fixes the underlying issue. It's honestly embarrassing that a government system has these kinds of basic problems, especially when people are depending on timely access to benefits. Hope one of these solutions works for you quickly!
