ESD says 'paid' but no money yet - how long to hit my account?

Finally some good news! After 7 grueling weeks of 'pending' status, my unemployment claim switched to 'paid' yesterday afternoon. I literally screamed when I saw it changed! But now I'm anxiously checking my bank account every hour and nothing's shown up yet. For those who've been through this recently, how long does it typically take for the money to actually hit your account once ESD marks it as 'paid'? I'm using direct deposit with Bank of America if that matters. I've got rent due in 3 days and I'm cutting it super close here. Also, will they send all 7 weeks at once or stagger the payments? Just trying to plan my budget after this nightmare wait.

Congrats on finally getting through! Direct deposit usually takes 24-48 business hours after the 'paid' status appears. So if it changed yesterday afternoon, you might see it tomorrow or possibly Friday morning. They should deposit all 7 weeks at once - when mine finally processed after being stuck in adjudication, I got one lump sum payment for everything I was owed.\n\nOne tip: check your ESD account again and make sure your payment details show it was processed correctly. There should be a payment ID number and confirmation that it was sent to your bank.

Thank you SO much! That's a huge relief to hear. I've been checking my ESD account obsessively and there is a payment ID number for each week, so hopefully that means everything's on track. I'll try to be patient for another day or two before panicking!

Thanks! I'll check if there's anything pending. 3 days isn't too bad considering how long I've already been waiting.

They say 24-48 hours but Bank of America sometimes holds deposits for an extra day!!! I had the EXACT same situation in January and BofA held my payment for nearly 72 hours after it said

Omg this is making me so nervous now. I didn't know BofA might hold it even longer! I'll definitely call them Friday if I don't see anything by then. Thanks for the heads up about that. And wow that must have felt amazing to finally see that money hit your account after such a long wait!

Just wanted to say congrats on making it through the waiting game! I remember that awful feeling of checking my status multiple times a day when I was pending. Such a relief when it finally changes!

The standard processing time is 24-48 business hours after the payment is issued, but there are a few things that can impact this:\n\n1. Bank processing times vary considerably (BofA typically takes 1-3 business days)\n2. The day of the week matters - payments issued on Friday may not process until Monday or Tuesday\n3. First-time payments sometimes take longer than subsequent payments\n\nIf you look at your payment status in eServices, you should see a \

That's super helpful, thank you! The payment issued date shows yesterday, so it sounds like I should give it until at least Friday or maybe even Monday. Just hoping the landlord will be understanding for a couple more days.

If you need to talk to ESD about the deposit status but can't get through, I used a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) last month when my payment was marked paid but never showed up. They got me connected to an ESD agent in about 25 minutes instead of me trying to call for days. The agent was able to see that there was a routing number issue on their end. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Might be worth it if your money doesn't show up in the expected timeframe.

Thanks for the suggestion! I've actually tried calling ESD a few times during the pending period with no luck. If I don't see the money by Monday I'll definitely check this out - can't afford to wait any longer.

Just to follow up - did your payment arrive? Most people are seeing deposits within 72 hours these days, though occasionally there are delays with certain banks.
