ESD payment status shows $0 after holiday - when will actual funds arrive?

So frustrating! I've been in payment pending limbo for almost a month and FINALLY got through to an ESD agent yesterday. The rep told me I should receive payment for my last 3 weekly claims (totaling around $1,650). When I checked my eServices account this morning, the status changed from 'pending' to 'paid' - good news right? But the amount showing is $0 instead of the $550/week I'm supposed to get! Has anyone experienced this before? Is this just a system delay because of Memorial Day yesterday? Do direct deposits typically hit accounts on Tuesdays or Wednesdays after a holiday? I really need this money for rent due Friday and I'm starting to panic.

This happens ALL the time with holiday weekends. Last 4th of July my payment status showed $0 paid too but the full amount hit my bank account the next morning. Their system updates the status before it processes the actual dollar amount. If the agent confirmed you're getting paid AND the status changed to 'paid', you should see the money within 24-48 hours max. The holiday definitely pushed everything back a day.

Thank you so much!! That's a huge relief. So you think I'll see it tomorrow then? I'm literally down to my last $20 and rent is due in 3 days.

Not always true!!! I had a $0 payment that never changed to the real amount. Turned out there was an adjudication issue they didn't tell me about until weeks later. OP should call again to double check!!!

The $0 amount showing in eServices after a status change to "paid" is a known display issue in their system. It's not actually sending $0 - the actual payment amount is in their payment processing system but just doesn't always display correctly in your account view. Bank deposits are processed in batches: - Payments processed before 5pm typically hit accounts in 24-36 hours - Holidays push everything back by one business day - If the agent processed your payment yesterday (Monday holiday), expect it Wednesday or Thursday If you don't see the money by Thursday morning, THEN you should call ESD to check. The worst thing about their system is there's no way to know if there's actually a problem or just a processing delay.

That's incredibly helpful info - thank you! Is there any way to see the actual payment amount anywhere in the system? I've checked every tab I can find in eServices but nothing shows the real amount.

Since you mentioned struggling to reach ESD before, if you need to contact them again and have trouble getting through, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was in a similar situation with payment issues after a holiday and spent days trying to reach someone. Used their service and got through to ESD in about 20 minutes instead of waiting on hold for hours. They have a video that shows how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 But based on what others said, I'd wait until Thursday before calling again since the holiday probably just delayed everything.

is that service legit??? seems sketchy to pay someone just to call unemployment for you

It's definitely legitimate. They don't call on your behalf - they just help you get through the ESD phone system faster. Once connected, you talk directly to ESD yourself. I was skeptical too but it saved me hours of frustration when I had payment issues that needed immediate attention.

omg ESD is SO broken!!! I've had $0 payments show up THREE TIMES this year and each time was something different. First time money came next day, second time there was a hold they didn't tell me about, third time it was a system error and I had to call and wait FIVE HOURS to get someone to fix it!!!! Their whole computer system needs to be replaced!!!!!!!!

You're right that their system is outdated. The $0 display bug has been happening for years but they never fix it. The key difference is whether the status actually says "paid" versus "pending" or "processing." If it says paid, it's usually just the display issue.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know that the full payment hit my account this morning! It was exactly what the agent said it would be. Thanks for all your help and reassurance - you saved me a lot of anxiety!

Great news! Glad it worked out as expected. The $0 display thing is definitely scary the first time you see it.
