ESD payment shows 'paid' but no deposit in my bank account after 3 days - help!

I checked my ESD eServices account yesterday and it says my weekly claim from last week was processed and 'paid' on Monday (4/21/25). It's now Thursday and I still don't see anything in my bank account. Usually the money shows up the next day after it says 'paid.' Has anyone experienced delays with direct deposits recently? Is there some kind of system issue going on? I tried calling the claims center but after waiting 45 minutes I got disconnected. Starting to worry because my car payment is due tomorrow and I was counting on this money. Not sure if I should keep waiting or if something's wrong with my claim.

same thing happened 2 me last week!! took 4 days to hit my bank. ESD is always having issues with their systems lol

That's a relief to hear. Did you end up doing anything or it just eventually showed up? I'm trying to decide if I need to keep calling them.

This is actually normal right now. ESD has been experiencing processing delays with their ACH transfers to certain banks. If your claim status says "paid," your money is definitely coming, but there's currently a 3-5 business day window instead of the usual next-day deposit. I confirmed this with an ESD agent last week when I had the same concern. As long as your eServices account shows 'paid' status, you don't need to worry. Your funds are already allocated to you and just working through the banking system.

not true for everyone!! mine always says paid but then i got a letter saying i was overpaid from last year and now they're withholding payments!! so dont assume 'paid' means its coming

I've been on unemployment for 6 months now and I've noticed the timing is all over the place. Sometimes it hits my account same day, sometimes takes 3-4 days. The worst was last month when it took a full week! I think it depends on your bank too. My friend with BECU gets his faster than I do with Wells Fargo. So frustrating when you're trying to budget and pay bills on time!!!

If you need to get through to ESD quickly, try using Claimyr. I was in a similar situation a couple weeks ago with a payment issue, spent days trying to reach someone. Used Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got through to an agent in under 15 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. The agent was able to tell me exactly when my deposit would hit and what was causing the delay.

is that service legit? seems sketchy to pay just to talk to ESD??

This is a known issue right now with unemployment payments. Here's what's happening: 1. When your claim shows "paid" in eServices, ESD has approved the payment and started the process 2. The payment then goes through the state's disbursement system to your bank 3. Currently there's a processing delay at the state's central payment system affecting ALL state payments, not just unemployment 4. Banks then have their own processing times after receiving the ACH transfer Current expected timeline is 3-5 business days from "paid" status to bank deposit. If it's been more than 5 business days, then you should call ESD to investigate. Also, double-check that your direct deposit information is correct in your account. Even one wrong digit can cause problems.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! That helps me understand what's happening. Today is business day 3, so I'll wait until Monday before panicking. I triple-checked my bank info and it's definitely correct - I've received previous payments no problem.

UPDATE: The money finally hit my account this morning (Friday). So it took 4 days instead of the usual 1 day. Thanks everyone for your input - it helped me stop worrying! Seems like delays are just part of the process sometimes.

glad it worked out! 👍

Thanks for updating us! Yes, unfortunately these delays happen periodically. Just FYI - for future reference, if you ever do need to contact ESD about payment issues, specifically mention that you're experiencing a "hardship" due to delayed payment. This can sometimes get your case escalated, especially if you have documentation showing due bills that you're at risk of missing.
