DEO payment stuck in pending status - how long until direct deposit actually shows up?
So I've been claiming weeks for the past month, and FINALLY saw my first payment switch from 'pending' to 'processed' in CONNECT yesterday morning! The system shows it was issued via direct deposit, but there's still nothing in my bank account as of this afternoon. With Monday being Memorial Day, I'm getting super anxious about when this money will actually hit my account. My rent is due Tuesday and I've been counting on this payment! Does anyone know the typical timeframe for DEO direct deposits to actually show up once they're marked as 'processed'? Really hoping it doesn't get delayed because of the holiday weekend... 😫

mine usually hits 2 business days after it says processed. but holiday weekends can def mess things up. i waited 5 days once over july 4th weekend. its so annoying how they dont explain this stuff clearly anywhere!

•Ugh, 5 days?? I can't wait that long. My landlord is already on my case. Do you think calling DEO would help at all? Or is this just a bank timing thing at this point?

When CONNECT shows 'processed,' that means the DEO has sent the money to your bank, but banks don't process ACH transfers instantly or on weekends/holidays. If it was processed Friday, you probably won't see it until Tuesday or Wednesday because of Memorial Day. Direct deposits typically take 1-2 business days after DEO processes them, and banks don't count holidays or weekends as business days. Your payment is on the way, just stuck in the banking system now, not DEO's system.

•Thanks for explaining! I wasn't sure if there was something wrong or if this is just normal. My anxiety is through the roof waiting for this money to arrive.

•This exact thing happened to me last month and I nearly got evicted waiting for funds. The system should explain these delays better! I thought I did something wrong with my claim for days.

it depends on ur bank too. some banks hold ACH transfers longer than others. my credit union takes foreverrr (3-4 business days) but my friend with Bank of America gets it way faster. DEO always sends it on their end when it says processed, its just a waiting game after that

•I have Wells Fargo. I was hoping they'd be quick but I guess with the holiday it's gonna take forever 😩

I've been through this exact situation before. The holiday weekend definitely complicates things. If your payment status changed to 'processed' on Friday, here's what typically happens: 1. DEO initiates the ACH transfer when the status changes to 'processed' 2. The transfer enters the banking system's queue 3. Since Monday is a holiday, banks won't process any transfers 4. Tuesday would be the earliest possibility, but Wednesday is more likely One thing to note - if you're desperate to reach DEO to confirm everything is correctly processed, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). I waited on hold for 4+ hours last month before giving up, then tried their service and got through to a DEO agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj But honestly, at this point it's likely just the banking system delay combined with the holiday weekend.

•I second the Claimyr suggestion. Used it when my account got locked after ID.me verification and it saved me so much time. But yeah in this case its probably just the holiday delay.

•Thanks for the detailed breakdown! I might try Claimyr if nothing shows up by Wednesday. Just paranoid something went wrong with my direct deposit info.

THEY ALWAYS DO THIS!! Every single holiday weekend the same thing happens and people panic. The DEO should put a big warning on the website explaining payment delays around holidays but they don't care how much stress they cause people. I've been on unemployment three different times over the years and EVERY SINGLE TIME there are delays around holidays. The banking system is from the stone age I swear.

•You're right - it would be so simple for them to add a banner to CONNECT warning about holiday processing delays. Would save their call center thousands of calls too.

have u checked ur payment method is correct in connect? my friend thought she had direct deposit set up but somehow it got switched to the way2go card and she waited 2 weeks for nothing before she realized. go to the payment method section and double check

•Just checked and it definitely says direct deposit with my correct banking info. At least that part is right! Now I'm just stuck waiting on the bank processing I guess.

One more tip - if you're really in a bind with your landlord, print out your CONNECT payment history page showing the payment was processed. Sometimes landlords will give you a couple extra days if you can prove the money is on the way. I've had to do this twice and both times my landlord was understanding once they saw official documentation.

•That's really smart! I didn't think about showing my landlord proof. I'll definitely try that - maybe it'll buy me the extra day or two I need. Thanks for the suggestion!

OMG this reminds me of last year when I was on unemployment and my payment got stuck for THREE WEEKS because of some glitch after the 4th of July!!! I called like 50 times and couldn't get through to anyone. I almost lost my car over it. The DEO system is so broken. I hope yours comes through faster than mine did!!!

•THREE WEEKS?? That's insane! Did they ever explain what happened or give you any back pay for their mistake?

•eventually they fixed it and blamed it on 'system maintenance' 🙄 got all my money but the damage was done by then - had to borrow from family and it was super embarrassing

Can anyone tell me why CONNECT shows my payment as 'processed' but when I click on the payment details it says 'Payment Method: Direct Deposit Status: Canceled'? What does that mean? Now I'm worried reading this thread...

•@user5 That's a different issue than what OP is experiencing. 'Canceled' means there was a problem with your direct deposit info. You should call DEO immediately to fix it - your payment was rejected by the banking system.

•Oh no! Thanks for telling me. I'll try calling them first thing Tuesday.

UPDATE: Just got the deposit this morning (Wednesday)! So it took 3 business days plus the holiday weekend. Thanks everyone for the help and suggestions. For anyone else searching about this - yes, it does take several business days after it shows 'processed' in CONNECT, and holidays definitely slow things down.

So glad to see your update that the money finally came through! This is exactly why I always tell people to expect 3-5 business days after it shows "processed" - especially around holidays. The DEO really needs to be more transparent about these timing delays. I've been helping people navigate unemployment issues for years and this confusion about payment timing comes up constantly. At least now anyone who finds this thread will know what to expect!

•Yes! This thread is going to be so helpful for future searchers. I wish I had found something like this when I was going through my first unemployment claim last year. The waiting and not knowing what's normal vs what's a real problem is the worst part. Props to everyone who shared their experiences - it really helps reduce the anxiety when you know others have been through the same thing.

This is such a helpful thread! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now - my payment just switched to "processed" yesterday and I'm anxiously waiting for it to hit my account. Reading everyone's experiences here is really reassuring. It's crazy how the DEO system doesn't explain any of this timing stuff clearly. Like, would it kill them to add a simple note that says "allow 2-4 business days for direct deposit after processing, longer during holidays"? Would save so much stress and probably thousands of phone calls to their already overwhelmed call center. Anyway, thanks to everyone sharing their timelines - gives me hope that my payment will show up by Friday!
