DEO payment delay after claiming weeks - normal wait time or weekend processing issue?
I claimed my weeks on Thursday through CONNECT and the website showed it was processed, but I still haven't gotten my deposit on my Way2Go card. It usually hits my account within 24-48 hours, but nothing so far. The status says 'processed' when I log in, but no money yet. Could the delay be because it's the weekend? How long is normal for DEO payments to actually hit your account after claiming? This is my 3rd month on unemployment and I've got rent coming up next week so I'm getting antsy about when the money will actually show up.

weekends dont count as business days. you'll probably get it monday or tuesday. DEO doesn't process payments on weekends

•Thanks for responding! That makes me feel better. So claiming on Thursday probably wasn't the best idea then? Should I always try to claim earlier in the week?

The payment process typically takes 2-3 business days after claiming your weeks. Since you claimed on Thursday, and weekends aren't considered business days for DEO processing, you should expect to see your deposit by Tuesday at the latest. The CONNECT system processes the claim quickly, but the actual bank transfer to your Way2Go card takes additional time. If your payment status shows as 'processed' in CONNECT, you're in good shape - it's just waiting to be transferred. I always recommend claiming weeks early in the week (Monday/Tuesday) to ensure you receive payment before the weekend.

•That makes a lot of sense - I'll definitely start claiming on Mondays from now on! Do holidays also delay things further? I'm wondering because we have Memorial Day coming up soon.

In my experience, if you claim on Thursday, you'll usually get it by Tuesday. The DEO system shows 'processed' when they've approved it, but then it has to go through the banking system, which doesn't operate on weekends. If you don't see it by Wednesday, then you might want to call DEO to check if there's an issue. I had a similar situation last month where my payment was 'processed' but got stuck somehow. I wasted days trying to get through to someone at DEO (constant busy signals and disconnects), but then I found Claimyr (claimyr.com) which got me connected to a DEO agent in about 25 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj The agent was able to see that my payment had a 'pending issue' flag that wasn't visible to me in CONNECT and got it released same day.

•I saw someone else mention Claimyr before. Does it actually work? I've spent HOURS trying to get through to DEO and just get disconnected every single time.

THE SYSTEM IS DELIBERATELY SLOW!! They make us wait on purpose to discourage people from claiming!! I've been dealing with Florida unemployment for 7 MONTHS and they ALWAYS take the maximum time possible to send payments! Even when the website says "processed" it can take 4-5 business days sometimes. And if there's ANY holiday (even obscure ones) they use that as an excuse for more delays! DON'T count on that money until it's actually in your account!!!

•I don't think they're deliberately slowing things down. The banking system just doesn't process ACH transfers on weekends. My payments have always been pretty consistent - if I claim Monday or Tuesday, I get paid Thursday or Friday. If I claim Thursday, I get paid Monday or Tuesday.

UPDATE: The money hit my account this morning (Monday)! So it was definitely just the weekend delay. Thanks everyone for the advice - I'll be claiming on Mondays from now on to avoid the weekend gap.

•Great to hear! Yes, claiming on Mondays is definitely the best strategy to ensure you get your payments before the weekend. Glad everything worked out for you!

I had the exact same issue last month! Claimed on Thursday, saw it was processed in CONNECT but no payment until Monday. I freaked out too but it's just the weekend delay. DEO does their part quick but the banking system takes time. Also FYI - if there's a holiday, add another day to the processing time. I learned that the hard way during Presidents Day weekend.

•Thanks for mentioning the holiday thing! That's good to know since we have Memorial Day coming up soon. I'm going to make sure I claim extra early that week.

does anyone know if changing your direct deposit info causes delays? i just switched from way2go to my credit union

•Yes, changing your payment method usually adds 1-2 extra business days to the first payment after the change. The DEO system needs to verify the new account details. After the first payment goes through, it should return to the normal timeline for future payments.

I've been dealing with Florida unemployment for about 8 months now and can confirm that weekend delays are totally normal. The DEO system processes your claim quickly (that's why you see "processed" status), but the actual money transfer goes through the ACH banking system which doesn't operate on weekends or holidays. Your Thursday claim timing means you'll typically see the deposit on Monday or Tuesday. I've found that claiming on Monday gives you the best chance of getting paid by Thursday/Friday, avoiding that weekend anxiety. Also keep an eye on federal holidays - they can add an extra day or two to processing times. The good news is that once you see "processed" in CONNECT, the money is coming - it's just a matter of waiting for the banking system to catch up!

•This is really helpful info! I'm new to the unemployment system and wasn't sure what to expect with timing. The 8 months of experience you have definitely shows in your advice. I'll make sure to claim on Mondays going forward and keep an eye on those federal holidays. It's reassuring to know that "processed" status means the money is definitely coming - just need patience for the banking system to do its thing!

I've been on unemployment for about 6 months now and had this exact same panic the first few times! The weekend delay is completely normal - DEO processes your claim right away (hence the "processed" status), but then it has to go through the regular banking ACH system which doesn't run on weekends. Since you claimed Thursday, you should definitely see it by Tuesday. I learned to always claim on Monday or Tuesday to avoid that weekend anxiety. Also worth noting that if you ever have issues beyond the normal timeline, keep track of your claim dates and payment dates - it helps when you need to call DEO customer service (though good luck getting through without waiting forever). Glad to see from your update that it came through on Monday as expected! The system works, it's just slower than we'd like when rent is due.

•Thanks for sharing your experience! It's so reassuring to hear from someone who's been through this multiple times. That weekend anxiety is real when you're counting on that money for bills! I'm definitely going to stick with claiming on Mondays from now on. And you're right about keeping track of dates - I should probably start a little spreadsheet or something to track my claim and payment patterns in case I ever need to reference it when calling DEO. Really appreciate the advice from everyone here!

I've been through this exact situation multiple times! The weekend delay is super common with Florida DEO payments. When you claim on Thursday, the system processes it right away (that's why you see "processed" status), but the actual money transfer has to go through the ACH banking system which doesn't operate on weekends or holidays. Since you claimed Thursday, you should see your deposit by Tuesday at the latest. I always try to claim on Mondays now to avoid that weekend gap - it means I usually get paid by Thursday or Friday instead of waiting through the weekend. One tip: if you ever don't see your payment by Wednesday after claiming, that's when you might want to call DEO to check if there's any issues. But based on your update, looks like everything worked out normally! The banking system delays are frustrating but predictable once you know the pattern.

•This is really helpful advice! I'm still pretty new to navigating the unemployment system and wasn't sure if the weekend delays were normal or if something was wrong with my claim. It's good to know that the "processed" status means everything is on track and it's just the banking system that causes the delay. I'll definitely follow your suggestion about claiming on Mondays going forward - avoiding that weekend anxiety seems worth it! Thanks for sharing your experience and the tip about calling DEO if payments don't show up by Wednesday. This community has been so helpful for understanding how the system actually works.

This thread is so helpful! I'm currently in my second month of unemployment and have been doing the same thing - claiming on Thursdays and then stressing all weekend about when the money will hit. It's such a relief to know this is completely normal and just how the banking system works. I had no idea that claiming earlier in the week would help avoid the weekend delay. Definitely switching to Monday claims from now on! Also really appreciate everyone mentioning the holiday delays - I would have totally panicked if my payment was late during Memorial Day weekend without knowing that was expected. The anxiety around waiting for unemployment payments is real when you're living paycheck to paycheck, so having this community to explain how the system actually works makes such a difference. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences!
