DEO shows payment as 'paid' but money not in my bank account yet - normal wait time?
Just had my claim status change to 'paid' finally after weeks of waiting! CONNECT shows a direct deposit was made on 6/27, but it's been 2 days and I'm still not seeing anything in my bank account. Is this normal or should I be worried? How long does it typically take for DEO payments to actually hit your bank after the status changes to paid? This is my first time filing in Florida so I'm not sure what to expect with the timing.

congrats on getting paid! it takes 2-3 business days from the 'paid' status for $ to hit ur bank. if u filed on weekend it takes extra day. just wait til monday, it'll probly be there

•Thanks! That's a relief. I was starting to worry something went wrong with my banking info. Will give it until Monday then.

The timing depends on your bank. Once DEO shows 'paid,' the money has been sent through ACH transfer, but different banks process these at different speeds. Most people see the funds within 1-3 business days. Remember that 6/27 was Thursday, so depending on your bank's processing schedule, you might not see it until Monday or Tuesday. If you don't see it by Wednesday, I'd recommend calling DEO to verify the account information they have on file is correct.

•Is this different if you have the Way2Go debit card instead of direct deposit? I'm waiting on my first payment and chose the card option. CONNECT says paid but I haven't received my card yet!

•Yes, Way2Go card is different. The funds are available on the card immediately when it shows 'paid,' but if you haven't received your physical card yet, you won't be able to access the money. The initial card typically takes 7-10 business days to arrive in the mail. Once you have it, you can create an online account to check your balance. For future reference, direct deposit is usually faster than waiting for the card.

If your claim just changed to paid status and this is your first payment, it can take up to 5 business days to hit your account. DEO processes the payment on their end, but then it goes through the banking system. Weekend days don't count as business days, so if it was marked paid on Thursday, you might not see it until next Tuesday or Wednesday. If you're really concerned, try calling DEO to verify your banking info is correct. I know getting through to them is nearly impossible though. I used Claimyr (claimyr.com) last month when I had a similar issue and needed to check if my banking details were right. They got me connected to a live agent in about 25 minutes instead of spending days trying to get through. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj

THE DEO PAYMENT SYSTEM IS COMPLETE GARBAGE!! It showed 'paid' for me too but took FIVE WHOLE DAYS to show up in my account!!! Their system is from the STONE AGE and they don't care at all about people waiting for money to PAY BILLS. I called and called and they just said 'wait' like we're not STARVING waiting for our benefits that WE PAID INTO WITH OUR TAXES!!!!

•Actually unemployment benefits aren't paid through your taxes, they're paid by employer payroll taxes. But yeah the DEO system is super slow and outdated, that's true.

•WHATEVER it comes from, we EARNED that money and shouldnt have to wait DAYS after they say its paid!!! My landlord doesn't care about DEO's slow systems when rent is due!!!

Update: Just wanted to let everyone know the money showed up in my account this morning! So it took about 3 business days from when the status changed to 'paid'. Thanks for all your help and reassurance!

•Great! That's pretty typical timing. For future reference, DEO usually processes payments on a regular schedule each week. Once you learn your pattern, you can predict when your payments will arrive. Glad it worked out!

My brother had similar situation but he had entered one digit wrong in his bank account number when he first filed his claim. The money got sent but wasn't showing up anywhere. When he finally got through to DEO they had to reissue the payment which took another 2 weeks! Make sure to double check all your banking info is correct in CONNECT.

•That's good advice! I just checked my banking info in CONNECT and everything is correct. I'll definitely keep an eye on that for future payments.

When I was on unemployment during my seasonal layoff this winter, my first payment took the longest to show up. After that, they were much more consistent - always showed in my account on Tuesdays like clockwork. You'll learn the pattern once you've had a couple payments.

This is really helpful info for everyone dealing with payment delays! I've noticed that different banks definitely have different processing times for ACH transfers. Credit unions tend to be faster in my experience, while some of the bigger banks can take the full 3-5 business days. Also worth noting that if there are any banking holidays during the week, that can add extra delay too. Dylan, glad yours came through - that 3 day timeline sounds pretty standard for most people I know who've used direct deposit with DEO.

•That's a great point about credit unions vs bigger banks! I'm with a small local credit union and was wondering if that might affect timing. Good to know they tend to be faster - that gives me hope for future payments. Also didn't think about banking holidays potentially adding delays, that's really useful info to keep in mind.

Just wanted to chime in as someone who's been through this a few times - the waiting period between "paid" status and actually seeing the money is definitely nerve-wracking, especially when it's your first payment! I've found that keeping track of which day of the week your claim gets processed can help predict future payment timing. Also, if you're ever concerned about a delayed payment, you can usually see the ACH transaction as "pending" in your online banking before it fully clears. That at least gives you peace of mind that the transfer is in progress. The Florida DEO system has its issues for sure, but once you get into the rhythm of it, the payments do become more predictable.

•This is such good advice! I'm new to all this and honestly had no idea about checking for pending ACH transactions in online banking - that's a game changer for peace of mind. The waiting and not knowing is definitely the worst part, especially when you're already stressed about finances. Thanks for sharing your experience about tracking the processing days too. It's reassuring to hear from people who've been through this cycle multiple times that it does get more predictable. Really appreciate everyone in this community sharing their knowledge to help newcomers like me navigate this confusing system!

It sounds like 2-3 business days is pretty normal, and I love the tip about checking for pending ACH transactions in online banking - I'm definitely going to do that. Thanks Dylan for posting this question and thanks to everyone who shared their timelines and advice. It's nice to know this waiting period is totally normal and not a sign that something went wrong!

•I'm in the exact same boat as you Teresa! My claim just switched to "paid" yesterday and I've been refreshing my banking app every few hours like it's going to magically make the money appear faster 😅 This thread has been such a lifesaver - I had no idea about the ACH pending transactions thing either. It's so reassuring to hear from Dylan and everyone else that this waiting period is completely normal. I was starting to panic that I'd messed up my banking info or something. Definitely going to be more patient now and just wait the 2-3 business days like everyone suggests. Thanks for asking the question Dylan, and thanks to this whole community for being so helpful to us newcomers!

It's amazing how much stress comes from just not knowing what to expect with the timing. Thanks Dylan for asking this question and thanks to everyone who shared their experiences - this community is such a lifesaver for people navigating the DEO system for the first time!

•Same here Miguel! I just joined this community because I'm dealing with the exact same situation. My payment status changed to "paid" two days ago and I've been anxiously waiting. Reading everyone's experiences has been such a relief - I had no idea this 2-3 day wait was completely normal. I was convinced I'd somehow messed up my banking information or that there was a glitch in the system. The pending ACH transaction tip is genius, I never would have thought to check for that. It's so helpful to have a community like this where people share their real experiences with the timing. Thanks to Dylan for starting this thread and to everyone who's shared their stories - it makes such a difference for those of us going through this for the first time!

This is such a helpful thread! I'm currently in week 3 of waiting for my claim to even get approved, so seeing everyone's experiences with the payment timing gives me hope that once it finally does get processed, the money will actually show up! The tip about checking for pending ACH transactions is gold - I never would have thought of that. It's really reassuring to see that the 2-3 business day wait after "paid" status is totally normal. Dylan, thanks for sharing your experience and congrats on getting your payment! For those of us still waiting on approval, it's encouraging to know that once we get to the "paid" stage, we just need to be patient for a few more days rather than panicking that something went wrong.

•Hang in there Libby! I know the waiting for approval is the absolute worst part - I was checking CONNECT multiple times a day for weeks before my claim finally got processed. Once you do get that approval though, this thread shows the payment part is actually pretty straightforward even if it takes a few days. I'm still pretty new to this whole process myself but from what I've learned here, the 2-3 business day wait after "paid" status is just how the banking system works, not a DEO-specific delay. Definitely save that tip about checking for pending ACH transactions - I wish I had known about that when I was waiting! This community has been amazing for getting real answers about what to expect. Hope you get your approval soon!
