DEO payment timeline confusion - just started receiving FL unemployment benefits
I'm super confused about payment timelines with Florida DEO. I need to claim my weeks on July 29th (for the period 7/11-7/18). Does anyone know approximately when those funds would hit my account? For context, I just started getting unemployment after losing my job at the end of June. My first regular payment landed on 7/22, plus I've received two $600 federal payments in the mail. I'm scheduled to return to work on August 4th, so trying to budget carefully until then. The whole CONNECT system is so confusing to navigate! Any insights on typical payment processing times?

mine usually takes 2-3 business days after claiming weeks. sometimes faster if u do direct deposit

•Thanks! I have direct deposit set up, so hopefully it'll be on the quicker side. Did you notice if the timing is pretty consistent each time?

The DEO payment timeline is typically 2-3 business days after you claim your weeks, assuming there are no pending issues on your account. Since you already received one payment successfully, you're likely in their system properly now. Just make sure when you claim on the 29th that you report any part-time work accurately if you picked up anything temporary. And remember that the $600 federal payments are scheduled to end this week (July 25th is the last eligible week), so don't budget expecting more of those unless Congress extends the program. They're discussing it now but nothing is finalized yet.

•Oh no! I didn't realize the $600 payments were ending! That completely changes my budget. I really hope they extend it since I'm only getting about $275/week from regular unemployment.

I've helped several people navigate the DEO system, and here's what you should expect: 1. For direct deposit: Payments typically process 2-3 business days after claiming weeks 2. For Way2Go cards: Usually 3-5 business days Since you've already received one payment, your banking information is validated in their system, which is good news. The fact that you've received payments means your claim is active without pending issues. Looking at your dates - if you claim on July 29th, you should see your payment around August 3rd-4th, right around when you return to work. Also, just so you're prepared: since you're returning to work on August 4th, be aware that when you claim your weeks for July 19-August 1, you'll need to report your return to work date. This won't affect the payment for those weeks, but it signals to DEO that you're becoming reemployed. I've found that using Claimyr (claimyr.com) is helpful when you need to get through to a DEO agent to check payment status. They get you connected to a live agent without the endless busy signals. You can see how it works in their video: https://youtu.be/UzW_hbUy-ss?si=zORd51jeq1GX5Ldj

Ok but can we talk about how THE ENTIRE UNEMPLOYMENT SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO CONFUSE PEOPLE?? My sister claims her weeks and somehow they "lose" her work search info and now she has to appeal! They make it so hard ON PURPOSE so people give up!

•Omg that's terrible about your sister! I've been documenting EVERYTHING for exactly this reason. Screenshots, confirmation numbers, the works. This system is so frustrating!

when i first got unemployment in february it took like 4-5 days for money after claiming not the 2-3 everyone says... just don't panic if it takes a bit longer sometimes their system gets backed up on busy weeks lol. also make sure ur claiming dates are right... i messed up once and put wrong dates and had to wait 2 extra weeks for payment ðŸ˜

•Good point about claiming date accuracy. The CONNECT system is very literal - if you make even a small mistake when claiming weeks, it can delay everything. Always double-check your entries before submitting.

has anyone noticed that the $600 payments come totally separate schedule than regular unemployment? like my state benefit hits on wednesdays but the federal one is random days

•You're absolutely right - the federal $600 payments often follow a different schedule than the state benefits. The DEO processes them in separate batches. However, this is becoming less relevant now since the $600 FPUC program expired on July 25th unless Congress extends it.

Update: I claimed my weeks yesterday and got a confirmation number! The DEO agent I spoke with (finally got through!) said I should see the deposit by Friday. Thanks for all your help everyone!

•That's great news! Really hope it comes through on time for you, especially with you starting work again on Monday. It's such a relief when you finally get through to an actual person at DEO - feels like winning the lottery sometimes! 😅

Congrats on getting through to someone at DEO! That's honestly half the battle right there. Since you're going back to work on August 4th, just a heads up - make sure when you do your next claim (if you need to) that you report your return-to-work date accurately. DEO can be really picky about that stuff, and you don't want any issues down the line. Hope your payment comes through on Friday as expected!

•Yes, definitely agree about reporting the return-to-work date accurately! I learned this the hard way when I went back to work last year - even being off by a day can cause issues. DEO is super strict about employment dates. @361f93487b1b since you're going back Monday, you might want to screenshot your confirmation when you report it, just in case there are any questions later!

Wow, reading through all these comments really shows how inconsistent the DEO system can be! For what it's worth, I've been on unemployment since April and my payment timing has been all over the place - sometimes 2 days, sometimes a full week. The one thing I've learned is to always keep screenshots of EVERYTHING when you claim your weeks. The CONNECT system has "lost" my information twice, and having those screenshots saved my butt when I had to appeal. Also, totally agree with everyone saying the $600 federal payments ending is going to be rough - that was literally keeping me afloat. Really hoping Congress extends it soon because $275/week doesn't even cover rent in most of Florida!

•Totally agree about keeping screenshots! I just started getting benefits last month and I'm already taking screenshots of everything after reading horror stories on here. The inconsistent timing is so stressful when you're trying to budget. And yeah, losing that $600 is going to be brutal - that was more than doubling what I get from regular benefits. Fingers crossed Congress does something soon because you're right, $275/week barely covers anything in Florida these days!

Just wanted to jump in here as someone who's been dealing with DEO for about 6 months now. The payment timing really does vary - I've had weeks where it hits my account in 24 hours and others where it takes 4-5 days. One thing I noticed is that if you claim early in the morning (like before 8am), it seems to process faster than if you wait until later in the day. Also, for anyone still waiting on payments from months ago - definitely try contacting your state representative's office. I was stuck in "adjudication limbo" for 8 weeks and my rep's office got it resolved in 3 days. They have direct lines to DEO that bypass all the phone tree nonsense. And yeah, the end of the $600 FPUC is going to hurt. I'm already trying to find part-time work to supplement because regular benefits alone just don't cut it with how expensive everything has gotten.

•That's a really helpful tip about claiming early in the morning! I never thought about the timing affecting processing speed, but it makes total sense - probably less system traffic. And wow, I had no idea you could contact your state rep's office for DEO issues. That's genius! I'm definitely keeping that in my back pocket in case I run into any problems. Thanks for sharing that info - this community has been such a lifesaver for navigating this whole mess of a system!

Reading through everyone's experiences here is both helpful and terrifying! I just filed my initial claim last week and I'm still waiting to hear back on whether it's approved. The whole process feels like navigating a maze blindfolded. It's reassuring to see that some people are getting payments relatively quickly once they're in the system, but all the stories about people waiting months in "adjudication limbo" have me stressed. I've already started taking screenshots of everything like some of you suggested - definitely learned that lesson from reading this thread! And I'm bummed to learn about the $600 federal payments ending right when I might finally be eligible. Typical timing, right? Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences and tips - this community is honestly more helpful than anything DEO has provided so far!

•Welcome to the DEO maze! 😅 You're smart to start taking screenshots right away - I wish I had done that from day one. The waiting for initial approval can be nerve-wracking, but try not to stress too much about the adjudication horror stories. A lot of those cases seem to involve more complex situations or issues with documentation. Since you just filed, you're probably in a better position than people who filed months ago when the system was completely overwhelmed. Keep checking your CONNECT account regularly and make sure all your contact info is up to date so they can reach you if they need anything. Good luck with your claim!
