ESD payment shows 'paid' but money not in bank account yet - normal wait time?

Finally got through the whole adjudication mess after 7 weeks (ugh) and just checked my ESD account this morning - it says 'paid' for my back payments totaling around $4,800! Super relieved but... it's been almost 10 hours and nothing's showing up in my checking account yet. Getting a little nervous since I've got rent due in 3 days. For those who've been through this recently - how long does it typically take for the money to actually hit your bank account after it switches to 'paid' status? Is there anything I need to do to make sure it goes through? This is my first time on unemployment so I'm not sure what's normal. Thanks!

Congrats on getting approved! When mine switched to paid status last month, it took exactly 2 business days for the $ to show up in my account. I think it depends on your bank too. Some people get it next day, but most have to wait at least 1-2 business days. If you see it as paid in the ESD portal, it's definitely on the way - just gotta wait for the banking system to do its thing.

Thanks for the info! That's a relief. I guess I was just hoping it would be instant. I'll try to be patient for the next couple days.

It depends on when your payment was processed. ESD processes most payments overnight, and then it takes 1-3 business days to hit your account, depending on your bank. If it says

Never heard of Claimyr before - might be useful if anything gets messed up in the future. I'll bookmark that just in case. Thanks for the timeline info too!

Mine took FIVE DAYS to show up last time!!!! ESD is SO SLOW with everything. I swear they do it on purpose to make people suffer. First the ridiculous wait for adjudication then making us wait for our money even after approval. The whole system is designed to be frustrating!!!!

five days seems excessive tbh. mine has never taken more than 2 business days. maybe check with ur bank? sometimes they hold deposits for weird reasons.

Just to clarify one important point - weekends and holidays don't count as business days for ACH transfers. So if your claim was marked paid on Friday, you might not see the money until Tuesday or Wednesday. I've been on UI twice in the past year and both times it took exactly 2 business days. If you don't see anything in your account by the 3rd business day, then I'd recommend calling ESD to check if there might be an issue with your direct deposit information. But from what you've described, everything sounds normal so far.

That's a really good point about weekends not counting as business days. Today is Tuesday, so hopefully I'll see something by Thursday then. Really appreciate the reassurance!

I'm with Wells Fargo. Maybe they're slower with processing? That might explain the delay.

yeah wells fargo is notorious for holding deposits longer than other banks. that's definitely part of the delay.

So when I went through this a few months ago I had a similar concern. Found out later that the day it says \

That's smart about showing the landlord proof from the ESD account. I'll definitely do that if the money doesn't arrive before rent is due. Thank you!

This happened to me last year and I was soooo confused about when my money would show up! Everyone told me different timeframes. I kept checking my account like every hour lol. It finally showed up in the middle of the night on the third day after it said \

Just checking back - did your payment arrive yet? It should have hit your account by now if it showed as paid on Tuesday.

Yes! It finally came through early this morning. Such a relief! Thanks everyone for the help and reassurance. The timeline ended up being about 2.5 business days from when it showed 'paid' to when it actually appeared in my account.
