ESD payment shows as paid today after appeal win but not in bank account yet - normal?

Just won my appeal last week (so relieved!) and ESD finally processed my backpay for the 7 weeks I was disqualified. The eServices portal is showing all payments as 'paid' with today's date, but I've checked my bank account multiple times and nothing has shown up yet. The total is $5,760 so I'm getting really anxious about it. Is there normally a delay between when ESD marks it as paid and when it actually hits your account? This is my first time getting a lump sum backpay after an appeal, so I'm not sure what to expect. Anyone else had this happen?

Congrats on winning your appeal! Yes, totally normal to see a 1-3 business day delay between when ESD marks it as paid and when it hits your account. Mine always shows as paid on eServices but takes 2 business days to appear in my checking account. Since today is Thursday, you'll probably see it tomorrow or Monday at the latest. If Monday comes and goes with no deposit, then you might want to contact them.

Thanks for the reassurance! I guess I was just expecting it to be instant since my regular weekly payments usually show up pretty quick. I'll try to be patient until Monday.

I went through the EXACT same thing in January!!! Won my appeal after 9 weeks of fighting with them and then had a HEART ATTACK when I saw

Ugh, that sounds awful! I'm definitely feeling that panic right now. Did you have to do anything special to get it resolved or it just suddenly appeared in your account?

It just showed up on day 3!!! No explanation, no email, NOTHING! Just magically appeared like it was never a problem! So frustrating!!!

If you're really concerned and can't wait, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an ESD agent quickly. I was in a similar situation with delayed payments after winning my appeal, and waiting on the phone for hours wasn't an option with my work schedule. Their service connected me to an ESD agent in about 20 minutes instead of hours of redial hell. They have a video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 showing how it works. The agent confirmed my payment was indeed processing and gave me the exact date it would hit my account, which saved me a lot of stress.

It worked for me twice when I needed to reach ESD. Much better than spending all day hitting redial. But honestly for the payment delay issue, you probably just need to wait the standard processing time.

This is standard operating procedure with ESD payments. When they say \

Thank you for the detailed explanation! I didn't consider that my bank might hold it because it's a larger than normal deposit. I'll definitely wait until Tuesday before I start panicking.

I double-checked and my bank info is definitely correct - it's the same account my regular UI payments have been going to. Good suggestion though!

I work at a credit union (not in WA but it's all the same ACH system) and I can tell you that ESD is not lying when they say it's paid. It's in the system but processing. ACH transfers aren't instant like Venmo or something. Federal Reserve handles these in batches and then there's processing time at your bank. Totally normal.

UPDATE: The money just hit my account this morning! Took exactly 2 business days from when it showed as paid on the ESD site. Thanks everyone for helping me not freak out too much during the wait!
