ESD direct deposit payment timing - do Wednesday payments hit accounts early?
Hey everyone, my UI payment usually gets processed on Wednesday (according to my ESD portal) but sometimes the money hits my bank account sooner or later. Anyone else who typically gets paid today (Wednesday) - did your payment already show up in your bank? I'm trying to figure out if there's a pattern to when the deposits actually hit our accounts vs. when ESD says they're processed. Starting to stress because I have rent due tomorrow and need to know if I should be calling my landlord...

•Thanks! That's helpful. Mine still hasn't shown up and it's almost noon. Getting nervous about my rent payment tomorrow. Did you do anything different with your weekly claim this time?

The timing really depends on your bank's processing schedule, not just when ESD releases the funds. Most people get their deposits within 24-48 hours of when ESD shows the payment as 'paid' in your account. I've been on UI since January, and my credit union typically posts the money around 2am on Wednesday, but occasionally it's been as late as Thursday morning. If your payment status in eServices shows 'paid' but you don't have the money yet, I wouldn't worry too much. It's likely just your bank's processing time.

•This is NOT always true. ESD can mark it as "paid" but actually have problems with the ACH transfer that don't show up in your account. I had 3 weeks marked as paid but NO MONEY for almost a month!! Had to call them 15 times before someone fixed whatever was wrong with my banking info even though NOTHING had changed on my end!!!!

I got mine yesterday afternoon actually! But my roommate who also gets UI hasn't gotten hers yet. We both bank with BECU. It's weird how inconsistent it is sometimes.

•That's so strange that you and your roommate have different timing even with the same bank! I'm with Chase and still nothing as of 2pm. Guess I'll be making that awkward call to my landlord...

I'm in the same boat! Payment shows processed on my ESD account but no money in my bank yet. This happens to me almost every month - the timing is so unpredictable. One time I got it Tuesday night, then the next payment didn't come until Thursday morning. Super stressful when you're counting on it for bills!

•Totally! My car payment bounced last month because I thought the money would be there Wednesday morning like usual but it didn't show up until Thursday afternoon. Really wish ESD would be more consistent with this stuff.

If your payment is showing as 'paid' in the ESD system but hasn't reached your bank yet, this is normal and varies by banking institution. ESD initiates payments in batches, and your bank's processing time determines when you'll see the funds. However, if you're seeing unusual delays (3+ business days after the paid status appears) or if your weekly claim is still pending, you should contact ESD directly. The challenge is that their phone lines are extremely busy, especially mid-week when payment issues arise. I've had success using Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get through to an ESD representative quickly instead of waiting on hold for hours. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3. Helped me resolve a payment delay issue last month when my direct deposit information mysteriously changed in their system.

•Thanks for the detailed explanation. My payment is showing as 'paid' since yesterday but still nothing in my account. I'll give it until tomorrow morning before panicking. If it's still not there, I might try that Claimyr service - can't afford to spend all day on hold right now.

Mine consistently posts to my account at exactly 12:01am on Wednesdays. Has been that way for the past 7 months I've been on unemployment. Maybe it depends on your bank? I use a local credit union. One thing to note - when I first started getting benefits, I had to call ESD because my payments weren't coming through despite showing as 'paid' in the system. Turns out they had somehow entered my routing number incorrectly (switched two digits). Worth double-checking your banking details if this is an ongoing issue.

UPDATE: Just got my payment about 10 minutes ago (5:30pm Wednesday)! Seems like Chase just processes these later in the day. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - really helped calm my anxiety. Going to make a note that I should expect late Wednesday deposits from now on so I don't stress about rent timing next month.

•Glad to hear it came through! It's always a relief when those payments finally hit your account. And now you know your bank's typical timing pattern, which should help with planning for future bills.

Anybody know if the timing is different for people who get their benefits on the ESD debit card instead of direct deposit? I switched to the card last month because my direct deposits were always delayed.

•The ESD debit card (ReliaCard) typically receives funds faster than direct deposit in my experience. When I was using the card, payments would usually be available by early Tuesday morning, even though my ESD account showed payment processing on Wednesday. The card eliminates the bank processing delay since it's directly loaded by US Bank, which manages the ReliaCard program for ESD.
