ESD claim status disappeared from adjudication - what does this mean?

I'm freaking out a little bit. My unemployment claim has been in adjudication for 6 weeks (ugh, I know). I've been checking the portal religiously every few days, and the status always showed 'adjudication in progress' under the 'Issues and Decisions' section. I just logged in yesterday to check and... nothing's there anymore. The adjudication status completely disappeared. No new messages, no updates, no payment pending, nothing at all. Has this happened to anyone else? Does this mean my claim was denied? Approved? Lost in the system? I'm seriously stressed about this because I've got rent due next week and I'm counting on that backpay. Should I call ESD or is this actually a good sign?

mine did the EXACT same thing back in January!! the adjudication status just vanished after being there for like 5 weeks. i panicked too but it actually turned out to be good news - got paid 3 days later. no explanation, just suddenly got all the backpay. have u checked ur bank account?

Really?? That gives me some hope! Nothing in my bank account yet but I'll keep watching for it. Did you get any kind of notification or did the money just show up?

This typically means one of three things: 1) Your adjudication was completed and approved, and you should see payment within 48-72 business hours, 2) The system is updating and the status is temporarily not displaying - check back tomorrow, or 3) A decision was made but hasn't been finalized in the system yet. I've worked with many claimants who saw their adjudication status disappear right before payment was issued. The fact that you don't see a disqualification message is actually promising. I'd wait 2-3 days before doing anything else.

Thank you for breaking it down like that! I really hope it's option 1. I'll try to be patient for another few days, though it's hard when you're worried about bills.

Oh no, that's exactly what I'm afraid of. Were you able to resolve it once you called?

I've seen this happen multiple times with clients I've helped through the ESD system. When adjudication status disappears without being replaced by a disqualification notice, it's typically good news. The system often clears the adjudication flag before updating with payment information. However, if you don't see payment processing within 3-5 business days, you should definitely contact ESD. Check your notices section too - sometimes decisions are posted there before payment processing begins.

Thanks for the insight. I did check my notices section but there's nothing new there. I'll give it until Monday and then try to contact them if nothing changes.

my adjudication disappeared and then my claim got denied two weeks later... but i think i messed up my job search activities so that was probably why. did u do all your job search stuff right?

Hugo Kass

β€’

Yes, I've been really careful about doing all 3 job search activities every week and documenting everything properly. I even kept screenshots of all my applications just in case they asked for proof.

If you want a definitive answer without waiting, you need to talk to an actual ESD agent. I was in a similar situation in February and spent DAYS trying to get through on their phone lines with no luck. Then I found this service called Claimyr that got me through to an ESD rep in less than 2 hours. Worth every penny because I found out my claim was approved but stuck in their system. They fixed it while I was on the phone. Check out their video demo at https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 and the website is claimyr.com if you want to skip the frustration of calling ESD directly.

Thank you for the suggestion. If I don't see any movement by Monday I might try this. Getting stuck in phone queue hell is the last thing I need right now.

is that service legit? seems sketchy that you have to pay to talk to a govt agency...

It's legit - they don't replace talking to ESD, they just help you bypass the hold times. You still talk directly to ESD agents. Saved me about 4 hours of redial attempts and waiting.

One more thing to check - log in and look at your weekly benefit amount on the summary page. If the amount shows a dollar figure rather than \

Just checked and my weekly benefit amount shows $468! That's different than before when it was showing as pending. And yes, my direct deposit info has been set up since I first applied. That seems like a good sign, right?

That's excellent news! When the weekly benefit amount shifts from pending to an actual dollar amount, it almost always means your claim has been approved. You should see payments processing very soon. The system typically updates overnight, so check again tomorrow morning.

YES!! Just logged in this morning and all my weeks are showing as paid! The money isn't in my account yet but the ESD portal shows the payments were processed yesterday. What a relief! Thanks everyone for your help and advice through this stressful situation!

Congratulations Hugo! This is such great news and honestly makes me feel so much better about my own situation. I've been in adjudication for 4 weeks now and seeing success stories like yours gives me hope. It's amazing how the system works - or doesn't work - but at least when it finally does, it comes through! Hope you get that money in your account soon so you can catch up on bills. Thanks for updating us on how it turned out!

Thank you Emma! I totally get how nerve-wracking the waiting is - those 6 weeks felt like forever and I was constantly refreshing the portal. Your 4 weeks will hopefully resolve soon too! What really helped me was when people pointed out the signs to look for, like the weekly benefit amount changing from pending to an actual dollar figure. That was the real indicator that things were moving in the right direction. Hang in there and keep checking those little details in your portal - sometimes the system updates in ways that aren't immediately obvious. Fingers crossed you get good news soon! 🀞

This thread gives me so much hope! I'm currently on week 3 of adjudication and have been checking my portal obsessively every day. The waiting is absolutely brutal, especially when you're behind on bills and counting on that backpay. Hugo, I'm so glad everything worked out for you! It's really helpful to know what signs to look for - I'm going to check if my weekly benefit amount has changed from pending. For others still waiting, it seems like the disappearing adjudication status might actually be a good indicator that things are moving forward. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it makes this whole stressful process feel a little less isolating.

Omar, I completely understand that obsessive portal checking - I was doing the exact same thing! Week 3 is still early compared to what some of us went through, so try not to stress too much yet. Definitely check that weekly benefit amount like you mentioned - that was the biggest clue for me that things were moving forward. Also, make sure you keep up with all your weekly certifications and job search requirements even during adjudication, because once it gets approved you'll want everything to be in order for quick payment processing. The waiting really is the worst part, but seeing Hugo's success story and others in this thread shows that the system does eventually work, even if it takes longer than we'd like. Keep us updated on how it goes!

This is exactly what I needed to see right now! I'm currently on week 5 of adjudication and have been spiraling with anxiety about it. Reading through this whole thread, especially Hugo's happy ending, gives me so much relief. I've been in the same boat - checking the portal multiple times a day, stressing about rent, the whole nightmare. I'm going to check my weekly benefit amount right now to see if it's changed from pending. It's wild how the ESD system works in such mysterious ways, but at least there are patterns we can look for. Thanks to everyone who shared their experiences and tips - this community is a lifesaver when you're going through this alone!

Zainab, I'm so glad this thread is helping ease some of your anxiety! Week 5 is tough but you're right in that range where things often start moving. Definitely check that weekly benefit amount - it seems to be the most reliable early indicator that your claim is getting approved. I've been following this community for a while and have seen so many success stories like Hugo's where people thought the worst but then everything worked out. The ESD system is frustrating and confusing, but the patterns people have identified here (like adjudication status disappearing, weekly benefit amounts changing) are really valuable insights. Try to hang in there just a bit longer - it sounds like you're doing everything right and week 5-6 seems to be when a lot of these cases resolve. Keep us posted on what you find when you check your portal!

I'm in week 7 of adjudication and this thread is giving me life right now! Hugo, congratulations on getting your payments processed - that must be such a huge relief after 6 weeks of waiting. I've been in the exact same cycle of obsessively checking the portal and panicking every time nothing changes. Reading about the signs to look for (weekly benefit amount changing, adjudication status disappearing) is super helpful because honestly ESD doesn't give us much guidance on what any of this means. I just checked my portal after reading this and my weekly benefit amount is still showing as pending, but at least now I know that's one of the key things to watch for. The stress of not knowing whether you'll be able to pay rent is absolutely crushing, so seeing successful outcomes like yours gives me hope that this nightmare will eventually end. Thanks for taking the time to update us - it means more than you know to those of us still stuck in limbo!
