Can't file weekly ESD claim on Sunday - system not giving the option
Totally freaking out right now! It's Sunday afternoon and I always file my weekly claim on Sundays, but today the system isn't giving me the option to file. I tried calling the automated line (800-318-6022) and went through all the prompts, but there's no option to file my weekly claim like usual. I checked my eServices account too and it's not showing the usual link to file. My claim is active and I still have benefits remaining. Has anyone else experienced this today? Do they do system maintenance on Sundays? I really need to get my claim filed today because I'll be in training all day tomorrow and won't have time. Any help appreciated!

•OMG glad it's not just me! Did you try calling too? I wonder if we should just wait until tonight and try again?

Check if your benefit year has ended. If your BYE (Benefit Year End) date has passed, you'll need to reapply for benefits before you can file weekly claims again. The system doesn't always send notifications about this. You can see your BYE date on your claim summary page in eServices. Also, make sure you're not in a "conditional payment" status that might require additional verification first.

•Thanks for the suggestion. I just double checked and my BYE isn't until October 2025. So that's not it. And I'm not under any conditional payment status that I know of. Everything was normal last week when I filed. This is so frustrating!

This happened to me a few months ago and it turned out there was a hold on my account because they needed additional information for an adjudication issue. Check under your "Notices/Letters" section in eServices - they might have sent you something that requires action before you can file again. Sometimes the letters don't show up in your eServices Dashboard notifications but are still in that section.

•I checked and there's nothing new in my notices. The last letter was from 3 weeks ago confirming my claim was approved. No adjudication issues showing anywhere on my account. The weird thing is the system isn't saying I CAN'T file - it's just not giving me the option at all. Like the link has disappeared completely.

This is almost certainly a technical glitch. Sunday is the highest volume day for ESD's filing system, and their servers occasionally have issues. A few things to try: 1. Wait a few hours and try again (sometimes the system refreshes at specific intervals) 2. Try a completely different browser or device 3. Clear your cache and cookies before logging back in 4. If you're trying to file earlier than usual, some people report the system doesn't update the new filing week until a specific time on Sunday Remember, you have until Saturday to file for the previous week, so even if you can't file today, you have almost a full week to get it done. Missing one day won't affect your benefits.

•Thank you for the detailed suggestions! I didn't realize the system might not update until a certain time on Sunday - maybe that's it. I am trying earlier than normal today. I'll try another browser and check again this evening. And I know I have until Saturday, but I was hoping to maintain my routine since I have training all week. Really appreciate the help!

i had this EXACT same issue back in February!!! the system was down for maintenance but ESD didn't bother to tell anyone!! typical government inefficiency if you ask me... wasted 3 hours of my sunday trying to get thru. absolutely ridiculous they can't communicate better!!!!!

I used to run into this problem all the time with ESD's clunky system. If you need to talk to an actual person right away about why your weekly claim option is missing, I'd recommend using Claimyr (claimyr.com). They helped me get through to an ESD agent in about 10-15 minutes when I had a similar issue last month. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/7DieNd3C7zQ?si=26TzE_zGms-DODN3 Just be aware that even with getting through to someone, they might tell you it's a system-wide issue that they have to fix on their end. But at least then you'd know for sure.

•Thanks for the tip! I might try that tomorrow if the system doesn't start working tonight. Did you end up having to pay for that service? Was it worth it?

•Yes, there is a fee, but it was worth it for me because I was in a situation where I needed immediate answers about my missing filing option. It saved me days of stress and uncertainty. They don't make you pay until they actually connect you with ESD, so that's good at least.

•Oh that's good to know! I'll check Twitter too. Thanks for letting me know others are having the same problem. Makes me feel better that it's not something specific to my claim.

Update for everyone: ESD just posted on their Twitter account that they're experiencing technical difficulties with the weekly claims filing system. They expect it to be resolved by 8pm tonight. They apologize for the inconvenience and confirm this won't affect benefit payments as long as you file before the weekly deadline (Saturday at 11:59pm).

•Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this update! I really appreciate it. I'll check back after 8pm. What a relief that it's just a system issue and not something wrong with my claim specifically.

I just tried again and it's working for me now! Looks like they fixed it earlier than expected. You might want to try again.
